Get yourself a midweek contract and head down to the numerous play areas for the kiddies in the zoo. Little One loved the bears, owls, rhino's and koi the most - and loved the train rides.

Unlike most zoos I have seen, this one is in a wooded area which gave it a different feel. Chimps, Grevy's zebra, elephants are all represented. What I enjoyed very much are the very large and old tortoises in the dinosaur forest. Here you will find around 50 different dinosaur figures amongst the trees and undergrowth. Great fun. Also a... As photographer (with permanent subscription) I visit this zoo very often. I like this zoo for it's good animal treatment (animals in perfect shape), nice zookeepers / attendants, interesting events and good viewpoints to the animals (glass windows close to animals) which allow me to take good photo's, as well as the new open-air bird zone. As it is a... More

A bit pricey but well worth a visit. A lot of activities for kids and animals are very well kept. Would give it a 5 star if it was a bit less expensive.

Some interesting, modern approaches, like the "climbing" walks (tunnels and stairs through the animal pens) and night walk (indoor darkened areas with animals roaming freely!) but otherwise reminiscent of old-school - with animals in poor looking condition (camels with droopy humps, unhealthy looking primates) and narrow pens.

All kinds of animals, highlights were the Brown bears and getting up close to a sloth in the jungle room, food was good and plenty of amenities.... only negative is that it is a little pricey.

Had some time to spare whilst in Amersfoort so decided to visit this zoo to occupy my time. I have been to many zoo's in many countries and this one is up there with the best, my favourite being Sydney Zoo. The site is well laid out amongst a pine forest and the animal enclosures are spacious and in keeping... More

We had a slack day workwise so rented bikes from our hotel, cycled to the zoo, which was a great way to get there. Admission was 19.50 Euro per adult which seems good. Inside the zoo is well laid out, set in lovely scenery. We went midweek so was quiet, plenty of places to get a drink and watch the... More

Great experience to walk through the night life area where in a confined space, without a cage, you have the chance to see all kind of little apes and sloths very close-by. Also great how they designed the Giraffe area, you can look them in the eye!

I love going to a zoo! Each one brings something different. Amersfoort brings the animals quite close to you cause they use glass walls instead of water or metal cages, which allows you to realize just how big a tiger, bear, etc. is. But if you really want to be amazed by size, check out their dino-park. Lifesized statues of... More
