Tells a very clear story of the industrial history of this area from rice, starch, biscuits and chocolate to sawmills powered by wind. Loved the replica, moving factory demonstrating how biscuits were made.

It's a museum about a traditional factory of biscuits, chocolate and candles and also the history of Zaandam, very beautiful to see and what a lot of historical materials they have!

The 10 Euro ticket included free entry to one of the nearby windmills (which are a few euros to enter anyway), so this was pretty good value. The museum appears newly refurbished, with written and audio guides available in English. The museum takes you through the history of Zaanse and the surround area of the Netherlands which was the hub... More

Let's face it after visiting many, many museums I have seen a variety of things and this was interesting but didn't knock my socks off. There was a portion that my kids loved and that was the chocolate room! A good display of how it is made to include interactive displays and games. After the museum we walked over to... More

We went to Zaans & Verkade Pavalion by city bus starting from Amsterdam Centraal station. It takes 45 minutes to reach there only for 5 Euros. The 12 Euro ticket from Verkade allows to see two wind mills and Chocolate museum. There are other wind mills also in a row, there is no entry fee for them. In one of... More

Holland is losing its windmills so the opportunity to see 7 windmills in a row should not be foregone if you have a chance. It is just a 7 Euro rail fare from Amsterdam and takes 17 minutes by train plus 15 minutes easy walking to get there. If you just take photos it is free.

There was a very small area that was upstairs of the Zaans Museum that was not under renovation when we visited on 01 August. Many placards were not in English, those that were had minimal or poor explanations. They were doing a lot of work and I hope that they will be making vast improvements. The Verkade part was an... This museum is located adjacent to the Zaanse Schans historical site. The admission fee you pay for the historical site does not provide you entrance to this facility. You even need to pay if you want to use the restroom. Spend your time across the parking lot at the historical site.
