This trip covers the Markham working clog making factory followed by a boat rip to Volendam with a visit to a cheese making display with time to visit attractions in the fishing village. After lunch a short ride to the windmill of Zaansee. This 1/2 day trip was run by Tours and Tickets out of Amsterdam. Our trip had a... More

Arriving in Volendam from Edam was such a disappointment, even though I had prepared myself for the tourist trade. People seemed to be feeding themselves and blobbing in the sun, maybe that was an indication of what there was to do in the town. The rubbish on the sea walls was disgusting (looked like it had blown down from 1... More

Was there to visit via a tour bus from amsterdam. Journey was comfortable and tour guide was also very informative. It was a lovely sight to see the houses and canals along the way. The place was filled with tourists and even eatery was crowded.. However, there are a lot of food kiosks that sells the local products ( eg... More

We took a tour from Amsterdam on a comfortable bus. The countryside north of Amsterdam is outstanding and certainly worth your time. Seeing the fields, the canals, and the houses is so very interesting. If you want to maneuver the trains, go for it. We liked the idea of the bus company picking us up from the Movenpick. The windmill... More

As I have been a Dutch resident for more than 25 years now, I thought it was time to visit Volendam, known for its authenticity. I loved the small/ medium sized original houses (not only at 'the boulevard street'!!) and the location (with the small harbor). Of course, you have to get some fresh fish when visiting Volendam, however the... More

Very touristic and busy, but pretty small city. You can park at one of free city parking areas up to 1.5 hour, but you have to put at the window blue clock showing when you have started (you have to purchase it and it is good for more cities). Advised to combine with a visit in Marken, small village near... More

My friends and I took came here for half of our countryside day trip and there were no regrets from no one. Once we reached the sea-level pathway, our breath was taken away. Walking this path, while touristy, is a must. My friends all had different types of fish and they were amazing at the taste. As a vegetarian, no... More

More lively than Marken this place was quite busy but it is interesting to walk around and look at the houses and waterways. Lots of places to shop for touristy things and to have a meal. Well worth the trip out of Amsterdam
