a lovely fisherman's village with quaint houses and a popular marina, .Apart from the usual tourist attractions, the village promotes the local industry with fish restaurants and cheese shops.

Volendam is known for its old fishing boats and the traditional clothing. The women's costume of Volendam, with its high, is one of the most recognizable of the Dutch traditional costumes. The place was great, do not miss it if you visit Amsterdam

The Volendam is a dated vessel that does have a retro appeal. The staterooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is only one outlet in the room so I suggest you bring a surge suppressor. Most activities are geared to the retired crowd, as are the restaurants. The entire ship closes down by midnight. There is a small casino that... More

Whilst in Amsterdam we did a bus tour to Volendam to see the windmills, town and the scenery. We were not disappointed. It was a great place with many things to see and do. If you have time, do it.

This was our first attraction visit on our 11 day tour of Europe with 19 teens and 9 adults. I highly recommend this village for a cute, touristy visit to a Dutch seaside town. I felt totally confident sending out my teenagers (in groups) on their own in the village for shopping and lunch. They had a blast. Lots of... More

Not my first time here but always enjoy Volendam. Try to walk from an end to another, go to have lunch in one of many restaurants there after taking pictures in Dutch traditional outfit. Love it!

Charming fishing village located about 30 mins bus ride from Amsterdam central. It is filled to the brim with tourist, but still we enjoyed the scenery and the sights of the cute houses in Volendam. Worth a visit, especially since it's one of the destinations in the 10 euro hop on hop off Waterland bus ticket.

We rented bikes from our hotel, and had a great day biking the countryside. We took a ferry from Marken to Volendam, which was good timing since we both were pretty hungry! So many food place's, it was hard to eat at all of them! But we tried! What a nice little village and a great break from Amsterdam.

I was very amazed with this small, coastal village. It was beautiful, clean, with nice little houses neatly lined along the coast. Small streets with little shops that sell souvenirs, cafes, traditional snacks, etc. It was a lovely experience, the feeling of being in a beautiful traditional Dutch village was overwhelming. Do take time to enjoy the local snacks, fries... More

We bought a waterland ticket, cost 10 € with iamsterdam card. The journey took half an hour and pretty comfortable. It was a nice little village. Many restaurants and cafes around. And the souvenir shops were cheaper than Amsterdam.
