Beautiful!

An absolutely gorgeous old church. We loved exploring this old town, and the church takes the cake. The architecture, organ, windows...it's all lovely.

We were very lucky to arrive as the massive organ was playing. The church is impressive and very nice.

This is a must see when in Haarlam....a beautiful cathedral well worth the visit. As with most cathedrals in Europe we wondered how they were able to build this cathedral so long ago....

The photos shown are of the Grote St Bavo church on the market square. They are not of the Cathedral St. Bavo which is located on the Leidsevaart. It is confusing because both churches are dedicated to St. Bavo. The Grote St. Bavo is over 400 years old and is protestant, while the Cathedral St Bavo (Nieuwe St Bavo/New St.... More

I know, I know, it looks big from the outside, too. When you get inside, though, that place is HUGE! Was 2.50 euros to get in and worth it. The building style is different than many other churches I've been in, admired the wooden ceiling design.

It is worth the price of admission to see the organ which Mozart played. It is an impressive organ and the church is spectacular with beautiful stained glass windows.

We are not sure whether this cathedral is Catholic or Protestant. Online information indicates it is still Catholic but we went to a short service in chapel there that appeared more Dutch Reformed. Mind you it was in Dutch, so we could have been mistaken. Some very interesting artifacts.

This cathedral is easy to find, with its spire dominating the town of Haarlem. Despite its solemn outside, the inside is light and airy, with beautiful stained glass windows. The gift shop, where you purchase entrance tickets for a modest fee, has interesting items as well.

Outside as well as inside, this church (or is it a cathedral?) is well worth visiting. Especially the drawinf of the tallest man (2m64) and the shortest (64 cm) caught the attention of my 1m86 grandson....

An alluring, well-preserved Cathedral in a perfect location within the Grote Markt. Really stands out due to its momentous size compared to the smaller, picturesque warehouses surrounding it. Shame I didn't have the time to enter
