The Frans Hals Museum in Haarlem is one of my all-time favourite museums in Europe. It isn't Louvre-large, but it can't be seen in just a few minutes either. Room after room is filled with Hals' paintings and other great artists. Hals' portraits feel more like photographs than posed oil paintings. I always feel I could meet these people on... more
