We had company function in The House of Bols and learned lots if tricks and tips how to make coctails like a pro. Pro bartenders explain all secrets for good drinks. We also try to copy the lesson by ourselfs. Very funny indeed.

If you have had what you want from art and history in the close by Rijks museum and Van Gogh museum and want to explore something new, this could be a place for you (if you are over 18:) It is a very small museum, but it gives you the history and the background for Genever and Bols. You can... More

Small but interesting museum section with fun sensory tests. It's all about the mirror bar and the free cocktails and shots at the end. Bar staff were just lovely and friendly. Go at the end of the day when it's quieter, then it can be the start of the evening also! Prepare to leave giggly and rosy!

Quite interesting finding out about the number of liquors, using your senses of sight, smell & tasting. The best part was the cocktail at the end & the couple of shots you could choose as part of the tour

Great fun for everyone. Good value at 14.50euro, as you get a cocktail and 2 shots included in the price. Tells the story of Bols from the beginning to the present day. Test your senses on the sniffer bottles and see how many you get right.

We went here for the cocktail workshop. First you have to do some tour about the history of Bols and then you arrive at a bar. We had a free token for a cocktail, the cocktails you could choose from aren't your ordinary cocktails. We had one with kiwi, don't know the name of it but it was really good!... More

The actual museum element of the House of Bols is pretty limited. There's no active distillery, as you might get with other tours of this nature. The tasting and smelling sections were enjoyable whilst if you're interested in the actual history of the House of Bols there is plenty to learn. The main attraction however is the cocktails. As part... More

I love a gin martini so my daughter and I had a great time learning about Genever and trying the cocktails served by two lively mixologists in the bar.

We did this as a joint ticket with the Rembrandt house museum so it only cost us 5euros, the museum was fun with all the taste tests and smell tests. Me and my mum have both worked in bars for a long time and still learnt a lot about Bols.i would definitely suggest this place just for the free drinks... More

Really good fun trying to identify the different flavours by smell alone, The artifacts were interesting but the display a little cramped. The best part of the visit was the 'free' shots and cocktail in the multi-mirrored bar at the end. Additional 'cocktail' tokens could be bought.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
