I love handbags and it was great seeing how handbags started and changed over the years.. so many gorgeous bags to look at! I had afternoon tea there and the setting was lovely. A nice way to spend an afternoon.

Amsterdam museum quarter is littered with some of the most amazing art galleries and museums in the world. They are certainly some of the most breath taking that I have ever seen and I wouldn’t say that lightly either. I highly recommend if you love your woman’s fashion that you visit the Museum of Handbags and Purses nestled in the... More

We kind of did this as a bit of fun, but it was actually very interesting to see how throughout history people have carried possessions and how that adapated with different fashion styles. Excellent gift shop and cafe. If the weather is not great ladies, treat yourself to a visit here and stop for a cup of tea or piece... More

Agreed to go to make up for dragging other half round places she did not want to go in Amsterdam (no not those ones!) This is brilliant single subject museum. If you like history you will like this. There are bags going back to the 16th century all beautifully laid out and properly annotated. There is also a lot of... More

This is a one of a kind small museum in an old canal house, within easy walking distance of other tourist attractions. It showcases bags and purses, many used by men in the middle ages and beyond, to the modern purse. Surprisingly interesting!

This Museum of Bags is a pleasant history of the bag, luggage, and more. It is housed in a beautiful old mansion that is equally as fine as the museum just behind Rembrantplein Square. Although it appeals more to the women and fashion person, it certainly is a good take. A 2 hour visit should suffice. My wife and 16... More

It was raining so I only went here to kill time and get a bit dry. I was pleasantly surprised as the exhibits were well put together and rather interesting. Not being a lover of bags and purses I did not have high hopes, yet I am pleased I went there. The building is also a bit of an architectural... More

Old purses from 1600 to the present... amazing. You can see an opera bag with just enough room for opera gloves and a special cut out section compartment for opera glasses! Fabulous 1950s collection with art deco style purses is super cool. See Madonna's, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor's purses... all the way to today. 3 floors!!!! We found it really... More

As a fashion student fresh out of school I knew I wasn't going to pass on an ALL- BAG museum! Since I've been studying fashion history I was very informed already, but I have to say it was really lovely reading the stories behind each bag, about the time it’s from, and the different techniques it was created with. I... More
