Its a museum for old ladies. Really just some old bags on display. Was out of there in 5 minutes, Not worth in my mind, unless you love old bags

This is a great museum for lovers of handbags. They have collected a huge selection of bags and purses and displayed them very well. A welcome altrenatve to conventional museums and well worth a visit. Signage could be better though
We purchased a museum kaart while in Amsterdam, which gave us the ability to visit dozens of museums (the price of the card was 45 euros per person; as Rick Steves writes, it's "a no-brainer for anyone visiting at least 6 museums." We agree.).
The Tassenmuseum was near FOAM (a photography museum that we also recommend), so we thought we'd...

My wife was anxious to see the Museum of Bags and Purses and I wanted to see the Heineken Experience. Guess who won that contest? In any case the place is not bad even for a guy. Very nice old building and friendly helpful staff. Displays were well done and interesting. More bags and purses than I needed but not...

It was enjoyable to see so many pretty things in one place, some not just pretty but also practical and handy handbags. If you are a bag-lover, you'll probably feel like buying quite a few of the showcased pieces. The good news is there is a section where you can buy nice bags and I'm not talking about the museum...

Very cold temperatures and a detiorating umbrella saw me convert into a museum groupie for a fair whack of my recent European holiday; hence my unlikely venture into the Museum of Bags and Purses. If the Sex in the City Girls and I have anything in common it is not a love of shopping and fashion. I loathe the former,...

I loved this museum but I love fashion, so that is a no brainer.
Even if you don't count fashion as a hobby as well as a function I would recommend this museum, which takes you through the history and story of the handbag. The designs and materials used are beautiful, I wanted to take more than half home.
They...

I was dragged her by my wife and was expecting to be bored beyond belief. I will be honest that I had a bad attitude going in and was expecting to hate it. I was beyond surprised at how much I enjoyed this. What was fascinating was the history of the bags. The museum has a walk through history according...

We enjoyed looking at the huge collection of purses. However while each display case usually had a sign with general information, I really would have liked to see more individual labels - some purses had them but many did not. We had mint tea in the café, a refreshing place to rest. The museum store was also tempting.
I'd never even heard of this museum, until I noticed it listed as an attraction in the Iamsterdam list.
If you like bags-you'll love this place. I t is situated in a beautiful, well preserved canal-side house. The bag collection is on 3 floors, and you start at the top and work downwards. There is a great collection of different types...
