We visited the museum today and we loved it. The building is gorgeous and the bags are lovely. The history of the handbag is told in a very nice and understanding way and it is just a great place to be. You can have a nice cup of coffee in the restaurent in the back of the building with a... more

I agree with CultureVulture; we were there January 2009. How many cities have a museum devoted to bags and purses? Yes, they have Hillary Clinton's Judith Leiber bag of "Socks" the cat, but also they have a man's bag made from goat skins from the 1400s (their most prized piece). I honestly and truly thought this was one of the best bits about Amsterdam. Not exactly what you go there for I know, but all the same it was the most memorable bit for me. That and Anne Frank’s house. But I am a girl. And I love handbags, so may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but just to... more
