Dutch craft beer served in a windmill !! Almost a perfect evening in itself!

If you are on a bike (like I was) this is a bit of a hike out to it, but not really very far from the train station / downtown. I also did not get to do the tour (I guess it is... read more

If you are on a bike (like I was) this is a bit of a hike out to it, but not really very far from the train station / downtown. I also did not get to do the tour (I guess it is only on weekends, maybe just during the winter season ?) but I would put this towards the... More

Do you like cheap and tasty craft beer? This little brew pub outside the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam is amazing. It’s full of a good mix of locals and tourists and seems to be packed at all times. The place has somewhat weird hours (2:00pm - 8:00pm) but is a great way to spend an afternoon. The beers are... More

Nice taster tray of 5 beers sitting in communal tested area. Couple of gas heaters would have helped keep us warm but the 9% beer did help a little. Watch the steps down to the toilets.

If you're looking for a place with good beer away from the main tourist areas then come here. It has a really good selection of different types of beers, most of which are pretty strong percentage wise while still tasting great. They also brew their own beer which you can buy elsewhere in Amsterdam but it's cheapest here.

A friend brought me here and I totally loved their locally brew beers. Highly recommended, but please note that the food options are limited

A great bar in an historic building (an old bath house I believe). Friendly efficient staff and a good range of beers from their own brewery. Good value beer prices and some quality snack to help extend your stay. On our last visit a large area had been blocked off to allow renovations. Obviously this limits space but not the... More

What better way to spend time in Amsterdam than sat at the base of a windmill drinking home brewed beer! Absolutely loved this, genuinely one of the best things me and my partner did on our trip. The beer itself is absolutely gorgeous and very well priced. As a tip, the windmill is just down the road from Artis Zoo... More

A local brewery that is inside a windmill, they have a guided tour and a visit to the top of the windmill but it was closed at the time we went. Good beer, great variety. They have a sampler taste of the beers for something around 8 euros. Friendly staff, don´t know if they have food or snack.

I love this place, they produce (in my opinion) one of the best dutch beers in Amsterdam. The place is really nice for grabbing a couple beers after work, great mood, lovely atmosphere. Only thing is it closes at 20.00. Best to go during the summer, since the terrace is packed with people from all over the world. Definitely a... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
