There are lots of different beers for a good price. There is also an option of a flight which is 4 or 5 small tasting glasses of beer. It can be very busy in summer but the large tables are shared by guests and we found a table for the afternoon. We also enjoyed some cheese and salami which is... More

We visited twice in our four day visit to Amsterdam and would have spent even more time there if we hadn't wanted to visit a lot of other places. The beers were all excellent. We particularly liked the IPA and the Wit but they were all good. The place was busy both times we visited but the service was superb.

Brouwerij 't Ij is booming! An excellent place to have an after-work drink (borrel) and snack with friends or colleagues. The beers taste well, and the setting is phenomenal: an old windmill. If I have to mention a bad thing, it would be that the place becomes a bit too popular. This means that sometimes there is no room for... More

We took a short taxi ride from Centrum (around 11 Euros). Really enjoyed sitting on the patio and having a few excellent beers. We tried the sampler which was excellent and had some cheese and nearly raw sausage with it. Enjoyed it very much. Try to find some shade if the sun is beating down!

Microbrewery with it's own windmill. What more could you want in Amsterdam? Maybe the sampling option of five different house beers, from a European pilsner to a wheatbeer, with a belgian style ale and a great IPA in between, to wash down bar snacks of meaty salami and Dutch cheese.....?

Great view of a windmill with nice beer and the option of cheese and meat platters. However the staff have an appalling attitude towards customers. I thought that we had just met one barman who served us with disdain however after being served by a few others who slapped drinks up to us shouted and rolled their eyes I think... More

A nice place to hang out, try a few different local brews ( go for the 5-selection), see the enormous collection of beer bottles from all over the world en enjoy the large terrace when the sun is shining. There is some simple but nice food available !

The beer quality is seriously really good, the place amazingly awesome, but the beer aftertaste is horrible hahaha.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
