This place was really fun to visit - I'm very glad my group decided to go in Amsterdam. The cheese and sausage plate was perfect with a glass of beer and it was very nice to sit out by the windmill. Only problem was the people working there were a bit rude, but we still had a great time because... More

Great little pub-come-kitchen which brews it's own beers. Easy to go mad as well priced and next to a beautiful old windmill. Delicious sausage and cheese side as well. Highly recommended.

My friend kept this place as a surprised for me, after telling him the previous day that I liked a lot their I.P.A. beer. So he organised a "beer trip" on this specific brewery. When you arrive at the place, you see an imposing mill standing besides the main building. The brewery is exactly as you imaging! Crowded with people... More

As a beer lover this place is one of the must-see's in Amsterdam. Their own craft beers are definitely worth trying and the restaurant is cozy though buzzy and full of talk and laughter, so don't expect anything calm. Just get a beer, sit down in a seat you can find, enjoy your company and the bustle around you will... More

Seriously...it's a pub under a windmill...What more could you want on your trip to this great city! The vibe is lively. We only stayed for a bit...but the place was packed. Friendly staff, too. And the beer...SO good! Local feel...highly recommended.

We love craft beer and visit micro breweries whenever we travel. I was looking forward to my visit here. Two trams and 35 minutes out of the center of Amsterdam, I arrive to find rude, disinterested staff. I ordered a flight, which in most breweries is a great introduction to how each type of beer is brewed and some discussion.... More

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
