My wife and I took the nighttime walking tour of the Red Light District that was offered by the Tours and Tickets organization. The tour included a tour through the Museum of Prostitution. The tour guide was Steve and he was absolutely fabulous. He knew the information inside out and presented it in a humorous or serious fashion depending upon... More

Girls in bikinis in windows like zoo exhibits and a few shops selling sex toys and similar stuff. Also a few places for live sex shows and other similar events. I have to ask myself what this adds to a visit to Amsterdam, it is a tourist visit rather than a place to find a prostitute I would say. Probably... More

This tour was not what we expected. Our guide was a retired male prostitute and conducted a very informative tour. It was much more than about sex.He described how the area was the safest in Amsterdam because of the security. We really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it if in Amsterdam.

When in Amsterdam.... On a two day stop over after cruising The Rhine with Viking, we set out to explore. First observation is it's filthy dirty. Gum and cigarette butts cover the sidewalks. As much as I would like to be looking around at the sights, I was concerned with watching where I stepped. Food in restaurants was okay and... More

On our trip to Amsterdam we thought it would be funny to find out a little more about the Red Light District. I am so glad we did because the tour was hysterical, amusing and informative. Our tour guide, Steve, was shameless and explained all of the inner workings and norms of the city, down to how to roll a... More

The red light district is a must see, we went in the day time and in the evening! Both times it was interesting and an eye opener, with the prostitutes just standing in the shop window's and sex being sold so openly, hard to take it all in but all age groups where present and it was calm and chilled!... This is one of those "bucket list" things that all should do at some stage. The area is busy, no crowded with a mix of ages of both males and females although I would not recommend taking children. The area and the girls have been a part of Amsterdam for hundreds of years and served the needs of sailers in... More

The Protitution Information Centre (or PIC) is just that - a centre that seeks to provide information about the prostitution that happens in the Red Light District, from the viewpoint of those who either have worked as, or worked with the sex workers in the area. They have a small cafe and a small exhibition inside which serves both as... More

Tim was our guide and full of fun and information. The district has existed for hundreds of years and is as much a part of Amsterdam as the canals. The girls in the windows are a small part of the story which dates back to when the sailors needed to be looked after following months at sea. Perfectly safe and... More
