All Canals are the same but this is the biggest one. Walk along it and stop at a close by shop for a delicious sandwich. Not to be missed
After a day of walking around, decided to come in here for a 45 minute massage. Never expected those small Chinese girls to have such power in their hands. Ouch! But in a good way!
This is undoubtedly the most important Canal in the city, coming from the train station and the city center is this the first of many Canals of that encounter along the way, hard to say which of the many is more beautiful, personally I liked them all and more less are all very similar to one another.
We stay on Singel each time we visit. It's just one of the four major ring canals around the western side of the city. Frankly, I don't understand why each canal is rated here. They're all nice and all the same with shops, houses, and restaurants. See one or all four; I'm afraid you won't remember the difference amongst the... More
Of the 4 major canals in central Amsterdam, this is the closest-in. It is somewhat more commercial than the other 3, but walking along its banks is no less wonderful than the other 3. We came across this place by accident and it is wonderful! The houses are all different and our guidebook explained the history of each one which made it all the better. Its worth a visit if you're close by.
The Singel is one of old Amsterdam canals-now houses, shops, restaurants, cafes, hotels and small galleries lined on both sides of the picturesque canal. It is very pleasant to stroll, bike pass both day and night. Take a rest, have a coffee, eat a bite, browse bookshops, all is possible here. Few minutes from Dam Square extends between circa Central... More
one gets a very good feeling about the center of town and plenty things to photograph. The Audioguide is perfect and informative.
I love this touristy place full of whimsy and magic. With flower stalls lining one side of the street and cafes and shops on the other, a walk along this canal is a must. Where else will you find a shop selling every kind of hammock or every kind of religious artefact? Only on the Singel. Definitely worth a visit... More
This is a pretty canal around old Amsterdam. This is the shortest concentric canal and it is beautifully lit up at night (just like the other canals). The Singel is gem-filled if you're willing to explore the numerous quality cafes and coffeeshops- many of them don't look touristy at all! I kept returning to the Singel to check out many... More
