Our family loved the canals and stopped at each one for pictures as we strolled through Amsterdam. They offer so much in beauty and diversity that it would be a mistake to visit here and not take the time to enjoy them. Each one has its own unique personality with so much to offer; you just need to slow down... More

The ring of canals make Amsterdam, Amsterdam. In summer it's nice to walk on random along the canals, see restaurants, shops and people and try imagine being in Amsterdam before cars came along. Remember to look out for cyclists!

I have been to every canal in Amsterdam and they are all lovely - beautiful and fascinating old canal houses, flowers everywhere and interesting boat traffic and house boats.

Attractive canalside walks with plenty of smalls cafes and interesting shops. Recommend a walk round the next canal west (Prinsengracht) as well.

Again, learn about its history during the over-all canal trip. Many people do not know that this protestant country had an interval during which it belonged to the Holy Roman Empire, the Keizer.

This street with the canal and HUGE houses is especially pretty early on a sunny morning. You can take some great pictures of the mamsions reflecting in the calm canal. A definite must do while in Amsterdam.

A beautiful ride on any boat should take you into the Keizersgracht, and even better if you can get some history along the way!

Be sure to visit the Geelvinck Henlopen Huis and Museum near the corner of Kaisergracht and Reguliersgracht. Always an interesting exhibit, and in the fall through the spring regular - and brilliant - classical music concerts in the conservatory.

We stayed on the canal. It is a memory maker. Beautiful! Don't miss out on this one. A boatride on the canals is a very good idea, maybe dinner and a boatride!
