Along this magnificent street, you will see the homes built by the wealthiest traders and merchants. We not only walked it but saw if by the canal which gave you a different perspective. Most of the best buildings are now occupied by banks and embassies.

Worth visiting and taking a picture. Nothing says Amsterdam quite like a picture with the canal. This is the perfect spot to show all your friends that you've visited Amsterdam :)

For tourists this is a must see when you visit Amsterdam. Take a map of Amsterdam and locate the canal for a tour through a typical Dutch canal. Winter or summer, it has all its own charm.

Cosmopolitan city.....Friendly and inviting people. Canals and its design were clear built around Central Station area.

Living here for 4 years, this was a great place to ride the bicycle! The wideness of it, the prettier houseboats, the cafes and restaurants, and the shops all make this a great place to stroll or ride on.

Best street of Amsterdam, but very busy with tourists. It's hard to get around as a local. Great place to read a magazine watching the boats on the canals.

The Herengracht, Gentlemen's canal, is home to the most fancy houses on all canals. It shows the Dutch mentality of the 17th century. Each one is a little more fancy then the next, and the most important were the rich tradesmen, the gentlemen... More

We enjoyed this canal on a boat trip. The views are spectacular. The information provided while on the boat made it an experience that will last for a long time.
