The river was only part of the trip; by taking a hop on hop off you can get to see a large amount of the city by walking as well. Some areas were more interesting and architecturally more picturesque than others but you get a good idea of what is what and the history from the on board commentary you... More

It doesn't matter what boat tour you take, just make sure to take the time to travel down the Amstel! It's such a unique way to see the city!

Amstel is truly a 5 star hotel. it is located right on the Amstel river about 1mile from city Center. Close enough for easy access and far enough away to be quiet! Easy walking to Rjikmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. Service is impeccable from the moment one arrives until one leaves including lobby staff, housecleaning, wait and bar staff--just everyone!... More

The Amstel river is the lifeline or the veins of Amsterdam. The river itself is very beautiful and run through different canals within the city. Recommend to take the Amstel cruise to enjoy a great day and the city's culture.

The Amstel is at its widest in the centre of town, near Hotel the Amstel. As a visitor to the town it is very nice to take a tour on a Rondvaartboot, or on a canal bike. Since I am a local, I have the pleasure of rowing on the river, and this is what I like best. If you... More

Through our canal cruise we found out about Amstel and its history. Such a unique experience. I recommend this visit through the cruise canal.

I visited during the yearly lightfestival in december/januari. It gives a very special atmosphere (see pictures). You can walk around but much better from the water if you hire (or have a friend with) a boat.
