This windmill, often called 'Rembrandt's Windmill is apparently the only one actually remaining in the Amsterdam area. It is sited in a very pretty place and only takes a few minutes to see since it cannot be entered because people live there. If you are not going to visit the windmills at Kinderdijk near Rotterdam [which I reviewed 12 months... More

Although there's only one and only windmill there, it's still a nice place for a quick stopover to take photos with the windmill. Visit there in the morning when there's less tourist. And yes.. right opposite there's a mini field with animals.. :)

It was amazing how big an authentic windmill actually is! There is a family/caretaker living in this windmill so you cannot go inside, but you can get quite close to the outside and it was very cool to see up close. This one of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam! We were only in the Netherlands for about 36... More

One of only a few windmills close to Amsterdam this is quite a sight to behold if you have never seen one up close before. It is huge and a beautiful structure that provides you with great photo opportunities. There is also a statue of Rembrandt very close by as well as one of the canals.

This windmill is quite a sight to see. It is much bigger than it looks in the pictures and it is an absolutely amazing structure. When you think of Holland, you might think of windmills which makes this huge windmill so iconic.

I visited this place in march 2014. It's a very much picturesque and scenic sight located lonely on one of the outside corner of the Amstelpark. It's worth a visit and not to be missed kind of attraction of Amsterdam. It is a wonderful sight as it is scenic from all the angles. There is amstelpark on one side and... More

Riekermolen is one of the 8 windmills that you can find in amsterdam though all is not in the city centre. This windmill lays along the amstel river and just outside the amstel park. It's a 'polder' mill. A family lives in this windmill so you can only walk around the mill and take pictures. You can find the statue... More

The Rickermolen is located just outside the Amstelpark and across the Amstelland, it is apparently the only windmill left in Amsterdam and built in 1636. It is a bit off the normal tourist areas but close to the Amsterdam Zuid business area, closest train station will be the Amsterdam Rai - then a nice walk through the Amstelpark. Definitely worth...
