Everyday I see this building as I always take the subway 'Waterlooplein', which is under this building. The location is in the same building with the city hall, and the complex is called stopera. The ballet is a top class. I've never been to the opera. Even if you don't come for the theatre, it's worth visit. It's a building... More

The outside is not really attractive, but once inside there is a lot to enjoy. First the view over the canals, next the architecture of the theatre and its spectacular ceiling, and finally the acoustics.

premiere of the Opera L'etoile. By pure coincidence we managed to get tickets for this premiere. It was amazing and fits to Amsterdam as a houseboat in the canal. Raelly worth to go there.

I was fortunate to be able to visit the opera here for the first time on this trip. I found the building, seating and production excellent overall. Unfortunately I personally was less impressed by the opera itself. Perhaps there is good reason for it rarely being performed. Having said that most of the audience appeared to thoroughly enjoy it and... More

Everyone who is interested in music and choreography should to visit this place. I’ve seen ballet “The Tempest”. It’s fascinating – structure of performance, scenic composition, facilities of dancers. By the way it’s absolutely not classical ballet (in Russian point of view), it’s modern, dynamic, inspired and very talented choreography. Building is also contemporary, well-done concert-hall with excellent acoustics and... More

I've been here four times. The theatre is acoustically perfect. I've seen four productions by the Netherlands Opera. Two were terrific: Peter Grimes and Handel's Samson, and two were awful: The Bassarids and Daphne. It won't keep me from returning, though. The sound is so good, it makes a visit worth any troubles you may have getting to it!

This is a beautifull theatre, with around 1800 seats, more or less all with good vieuw on the stage. Mostly opera and klasical ballet

Building does not look like much from outside but the seating is perfect - clear views of the stage- and the acoustics are wonderful. Performance of Arabella by Richard Strauss was memorable.
