Carre was built to house a circus, not a concert hall, go to the Concertgebouw for acoustics. It’s on the Amstel river, it has ambience, and certainly part of the Amsterdam evening out scene.

one of the nicest theatres in the netherlands and greatly located by the Amstel river. Has its own champagne bar plus other options to eat and drink. still haven't had dinner there yet.

Nice place to see a good show. Beware: some seats are high up (if you have fear of heights). The building is neorenaissancestyle.

Though you don't like to attend the circus or concert, but you need to see this place once. It's a good place for shows like cirsus, musical etc. The hall is beautiful. Wherever you sit, you still see the stage. I've been here a couple times and like to come again for other performances.

This is a gem of a theater on the Amstel River. We saw many great shows here : ballet, theater, circus. In 2004 the theater was renovated for 28 million euro's. Since then leg space has improved considerably and from all seats one has good views. Recently we saw War Horse here, a great show. During intermissions one can stroll... More

Great show (Warhorse), good acoustic for music and you can see the stage from every seat. It is almost like you have golden seats. The service during the break was good, enough places to seat. It is a great building to see from the inside!

... and were disappointed to miss it the next year. An exceptional venue, parading exceptional talent. A pity the winter shows are less frequent; we would really have liked to see more.

it is a nice building but it wasn't meant to be a concert hall (it was a circus) and therefore the acoustics are lousy ... if you know it and you don't go for the sound...it is a very enjoyable place

Theatre Carre was built to house circuses, and we were thrilled by the Wereld Kerst Circus (World Christmas Circus) that featured acts from acrooss the world - an brilliant American clown (Belo), breath-taking trapeze artists from North Korea, an amzing Italian ventriloquist and other acts from Russia, Vietnam, Italy and China. This review, however, is about the venue. Koninklijk Theater... More
