Went for a concert and the theatre is in beautiful condition and is a very attractive building that is easy to get into with very friendly staff. Easy to recommend it for what it is.

I already reviewed the theatre upon seeing Finzi Pasca's "la verità" here. In that occasion I gave it 5 stars, which is what it deserves since it it a breathtaking facility. My boyfriend booked some nice seats to see the famous Christmas circus show here last week, and we were rather disappointed by the experience. The acts were mostly mediocre.... More

This is one of the most, if not the most, beautiful theatre in The Netherlands. It is a beautiful historical building with a classic U-shape. We went here to see the traditional Christmas circus - now without the wild animals. The quality of the show, in combination with the superb atmosphere, was very high. If you are in town and... We were in Carré for the 'Winter Circus'. (which was great by the way) Carré is a very romantic theatre with real 'lodge rooms'. The interior design is absolutely fabulous. This theatre can easily match with the best theatres on Broadway!

Went to the Carre to watch Priscilla Queen of the Desert, which we have seen a few times in the UK. This is a lovely old theatre, easily accessible by tram or metro. Bar prices were reasonable. Found leg room in the stalls to be very good. However, the venue is not particularly wheelchair friendly - there was a disabled... More

Carré is a very old and nice theatre near the old centre of Amsterdam. Good acoustics and very good restaurant. Don't forget the Gin Tonic.

Visited Carre to see a family member in Priscilla! Lovely clean theatre! I had a great time would love to see a show "in the round" due to its lovely horseshoe shape.

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
