This church is one of the oldest buildings in Amsterdam. In 1607 this late-gothic church was given to the English Presbytery Church and since then is English Reformed Church. There is still service on sunday at 10.30 am. From the end of '70 this church is very important for the chamber music in Amsterdam. Concerts are being held through the... More

In my previous review of this church I said that we could never find it open. Well, we returned on a recent Sunday morning and the church was open all right, but with a notice on the door that said that it was not open for sightseers, but only for worshipers. So I still want to know when the other... More

Based on the reviews here, we tried to enter this church recently while we were visiting the Beguinhof, but the door was closed and locked. No opening hours were posted. When visiting the Engelse kerk you cannot imagine the busy life oing on outside. It is nice for a very short (free) visit and gives the opportunity to contemplate life in general and the passing of time in particular.

On the Begijnhof there is the little church of the Anglican Church in Holland. Great history. Beautifull organ. worth while visiting and there are still services.

This is a lovely church that, as stated in the accompanying article, has been around since 1419 and is still in use today. When you are inside the Begijnhof you cannot miss the church. There are some lovely English speaking women inside who are either volunteers or work there, and they will give you all sorts of information about the... More
