Type: Performances, Theater & Concerts
Owner description: Boom Chicago is an Amsterdam comedy institution. One of the biggest show in the capital, the creative group is a "unique part of the Dutch comedy scene" (de Volkskrant) that "invented a totally new style of theater; call it digital comedy." (NRC Handelsblad) Although the show is in English, the majority of the audience is Dutch and local. The productions combine sketch comedy, improvisation, music, video and the internet in a way that is unique in the world and laugh out loud funny. Boom Chicago performs Wednesday through Saturday with a late show on Saturday as well. Most people come early to get a good seat and dinner packages are available with three nearby restaurants before the show. “Five stars -- Kill to get a ticket” – The Scotsman “Five stars -- Rapier like Wit” – The Guardian “Smart, fast, loud, irreverent… and surprisingly good food” – Wall Street Journal “Another victory for Boom Chicago…. very, very clever. Miss them at your peril” – The Independent “One of the best sketch and improv shows I have ever seen. Boom Chicago changed my life.“ – Time Out Chicago “A perfect combination of scripted scenes and improvisation… We are once again grateful that [Boom Chicago] decided to make Amsterdam their home.” – Het Parool

Comedians poked fun at the bosses and we loved it. The team did a great job of setting up for a night of fun and laughter, had some good interactive games to play, and definitely got us all engaged. Nice bar, food acceptable. Definitely recommend for company events, or large groups of any type.

One of the highlights of our trip to Amsterdam. We had a great time watching “Attack of the killer bikes” which was mix of scripted scenes, improvisation and video about life in Amsterdam. Scripted part was brilliant.and I enjoyed this more than improvisation which was something like "Whose line is anyway", but overall it was all worth seeing.

I attended this venue with my partner a couple of years ago. I love stand up comedy but generally when attending a show it can go either way. I am either sitting there bored or rolling on the floor laughing. I loved Boom Chicago. The venue is very nice and its in a good location. The prices are not too... More

We used to be regular visitors of Boom Chicago some 10 years back when it was situated on the Leidseplein in Amsterdam. So when arranging a rendevouz with some collegues and friends we decided to book the Boom Chicago show on saturday evening (31st Jan 2015). Our party had people from Germany, Italy, France, Japan, Switzerland and Netherlands. Everyone in... More

Don't take the bait... Don't take the bait.... Ag, I can't help myself! Sorry, you didn't like the show, but it's not fair to call it a disaster. The show was almost sold out with 200+ people. At the end, the crowd roared. I was on stage, so I'm a bit biased, but that show was well received by other... More

As a frequent traveler back in the day, I always kept an eye open for quality entertainment, both stateside and abroad. The Boom Chicago improv comedy act in Amsterdam, Holland in hindsight was most likely the biggest gem I stumbled across out all my years in transit. If you find yourself in the Netherlands, a visit to the Boom Chicago... More

Dear markbarger, Thank you for staying at the Airport Sheraton. I am glad you liked our branded bed and tsunami shower experience. Were you inspired by the sentences we wrote on the walls and mirrors? On behalf of our whole team, thank you for you review. As the front of house assistant manager, I learned at my social media course... More

We reserved some VIB tickets and added two pizza's to our order. We were asked to arrive an hour early as our pizza's would be delivered (by Domino's) at this time. Enjoyed the pizza, no cutlery and napkins and when we asked for napkins we were given one (literally one) which we shared. I don't want to nitpick but you... More

We had dinner and a show on New Year's Eve here. The dinner was surprisingly good; a nice and plentiful assortment of entrees, a very good steak and an apple pie for desert. The show was really nice. All improvisation, no stand up as one should know, very fast and funny and also easy to understand for non-native speakers. Did... More

I've visited Boom Chicago at least 5 or 6 times before and it is always a fun night out although I must say this visit wasn't quite as good as previous ones. The shows are fun, with a mixture of skits and improv based on audience suggestions. Last night's show seemed to have nothing to do with the theme they... More

We expected a lot as we had heard about Boom Chicago, but our expectations were exceeded. Stand up and improvisation made us laugh tears in our eyes. We bookerd in advance places for coach, very comfortable! Great idea to offer such possibility.

The concept of impro-shows is old - but I have barely ever seen a worse show. The best alternative is the bar after the break where the drinks are good and so is the service.
