Owner description: Boom Chicago is an Amsterdam comedy institution. One of the biggest show in the capital, the creative group is a "unique part of the Dutch comedy scene" (de Volkskrant) that "invented a totally new style of theater; call it digital comedy." (NRC Handelsblad) Although the show is in English, the majority of the audience is Dutch and local. The productions combine sketch comedy, improvisation, music, video and the internet in a way that is unique in the world and laugh out loud funny. Boom Chicago performs Wednesday through Saturday with a late show on Saturday as well. Most people come early to get a good seat and dinner packages are available with three nearby restaurants before the show. “Five stars -- Kill to get a ticket” – The Scotsman “Five stars -- Rapier like Wit” – The Guardian “Smart, fast, loud, irreverent… and surprisingly good food” – Wall Street Journal “Another victory for Boom Chicago…. very, very clever. Miss them at your peril” – The Independent “One of the best sketch and improv shows I have ever seen. Boom Chicago changed my life.“ – Time Out Chicago “A perfect combination of scripted scenes and improvisation… We are once again grateful that [Boom Chicago] decided to make Amsterdam their home.” – Het Parool

It seems there are different shows on different nights so you can go more than once. We took in the Seven Deadly Dutch Sins and the girl in the VVV said it was 'interactive' but you shouldn't worry about that, they are polite. The local audience shout out and that tells you even more. Have a drink, a good seat... More

5 acts and one virgin ! Last act the best. A good laugh and nice hip bar adjoining. Worth an evening.

I arrived in Amsterdam today and my accommodation had these little "things to do" cards, one was for a comedy show at Boom. Now I am always up for a good laugh and why not, it is saturday! the card promised E3.50 discount but I by chance asked that the "last minute tickets" counter and got 50% off. So it... More

We attended the 7 Deadly Dutch Sins show and we laughed the full two hours. A great place to meet up with other expat friends and enjoy a comedy show in English. We're looking forward to attending some of their other shows. A gem on the Rozengracht!

The show as in a very small venue and the four actors were very good. If you have been there before please make note that they have recently moved.

We went here recently with visitors from Canada. I have been to the show many times myself, but not for a couple of years, and not since they left Leidseplein. I am a bit hesitant to give my opinion as it appears the organization responds defensively to negative feedback, however I would have to say based on this latest experience... More

We went buy on a Saturday to watch the show "what's up with those beards?". It was a mix of scripted performance and improvisation. Although I found that the show didn't really focus on the topics it used in its marketing (it was a lot more improv than prepared) it was still amusing and entertaining. I would consider going back... More

We went to boom Chicago twice while we were in Amsterdam! The first time it was hilarious and we had a great time! The Improv was witty as were the sketches! The second time we went it was for the '7 Dutch deadly sins' this show was still funny and the comedians were very clever but I wouldn't recommend this... More

Hi Roseabella, Thank you so much for your nice words. I'm glad you had such a good time. One small point of clarity. The 7 Deadly Dutch Sins is not in Dutch. There are some language jokes that we explain, but it is totally interesting to visitors. It is especially for people who want the locals experience (in English). It... More

We had tickets for a specific show, but when we came to Boom Chicago we heard that that show was cancelled that night. Instead we could visit a different show that night, and we also got free tickets for the original show anytime in the following weeks. So we thought that was very customer friendly. The shows were both really... More

Hey Truedidi, We love five star reviews. Thank you very much for your comments! We will pass on the compliments to our bar staff. I don't quite see these complaints about food you mention. Also, we don't really serve food anymore and work with three neighboring restaurants. Yes we do high end (and medium end) events that need catering, and... More

Boom used to be a yearly treat for me, as was Amsterdam, but my visits to the city are less often these days and I haven't been to boom chicago in over 10 years, a thought that scared me a little as it really doesn't seem that long! Bought our tickets from the UIT festival which offered us a good... More
