Free on the I am Amsterdam card. Buy the map to ensure you see everything. Everything you want in a zoo, old style so be prepared for the real life smells and some old cages etc.

Well set out wonderful to walk through the monkey section and they are not in cages. slightly too many empty cages but had a great afternoon. Bang in the city centre is also a bonus.

The enclosures are a little bit smaller than we are used to in England so I can understand some of the comments I've seen, but I don't get the impression there was any discomfort involved. They are also undergoing a lot of construction work. The giraffe and zebra enclosure looked quite new and really spacious. It's a lovely way to... More

It's not the biggest zoo in the world but nevertheless I found it quite nice! The also have plenty of activities for kids and they will surely love it, just check the calendar and book a brunch.

I love visiting the zoo, it really doesn't matter what country I'm in! A really nice zoo, my wife loved the flamingos, while my highlight was the vultures! Both these thing we don't have at the Melbourne zoo!

Went here in august, so was peak season, we just paid on the door, no need to get a skip the queue pass. The zoo was well set out, although a lot of the cages and pens were empty. Aquarium was a bit disappointing, but everything else was good. A nice big cafe area in the centre with play area.... More

We visited Amsterdam on a DFDS 2-night mini-cruise and pre-booked a joint canal cruise with tickets to the Artis Zoo (approx. £12 each) online before we left. We have been to Amsterdam many times and so find the Red Light District a bit boring and opted for the Zoo instead. It's a great place to get up close and personal... More

I love Zoos, but this is the negative example for it. junk food everywhere, more a park than a zoo but without the love for animals. Gorillas were a lot of fun, but the cage looked awful. For this very disappointing experience, they rip you of with high entrance fees. I would have expected more from the dutch

I found some of the cages in this zoo really disappointing. While there has been some effort made, many of the compounds are small and/or very boring for the animals. To see Plains animals without any grass to graze, seals with nothing to play with in unadorned concrete pools and penguins with murky water that stinks ( I know penguins... More

i've been here twice in my last visits to amsterdam and everytime i had a great time. to enjoy it don't go in the weekends because it's a place where a lot of dutches come with their families and the place is crowded, not to mention the tourists. also it's best to choose a sunny day. the entrance fee is...
