For €4 there's really not much to complain about! Lots of photos, artwork and artifacts and a few moving exhibits. It's interesting to see the changes in style and image from the early photos up to more modern times. There's also a fetish section, which is a bit more intense, and a red light district mock-up street. It's in such... More

This has been extended enormously into several floors. Really, the building is now more interesting that what is on show. Some of the exhibits are old and in poor condition and the various pictures, objects and ephemera and nothing more than you would snigger over behind the bike sheds when you were younger. It could, and perhaps should, be so... More

Pretty much what you'd expect of a sex museum in Amsterdam. Sometimes crude, sometimes lewd, but both informative and interesting. The price is a big selling point, as is the location.

Nothing really special, the great thing is the entry ticket (4 €): the reason why my friends and I decided to visited. Small museum but with a lot of small statues and pictures taken during many different historical periods. You learn nothing but it can be fun

If you are an uptight person ,then stay away, if not this place is fun with humour. I enjoyed it , I do not recall if they give discounts for other attractions of the same nature such as The Casa Rosso etc. Watch out for a certain door in trick door in the Sexmuseum??, that is all I am going... Really enjoy the exhibits. And it was funny only 4 euros! Amazing to get to a place like Amsterdam, the sex is very open.

The sex museum had a theme "sex through the years" and I found it thoroughly interesting. Every collection is satisfying and the explanations are useful. Interactive models made the experience better too. If you're tossing up between this museum and the erotic museum in the red light district, this is the cleat winner. This is cheaper, more worthwhile and definitely... More

Coming from a conservative country, i think it's an experience to visit the museum. certain picts are quite funny to me thou can be a lil 'turned off'. if you are someone who can't take sexual stuffs, i will say maybe this place will be too disturbing for you to take it. entry fee at only 4 euros, i'd recommend... €4 entrance fee. Well worth it! Random dolls at entrance (you can find out what that means when you go ;) Various sex items scattered throughout 4 floors. Covers modern and historical sex! If anything you will get a giggle

Bizarre experience, and weren't planning to go but had time to kill so thought why not! Place is packed full so plenty to see and experience. Worth a visit if passing.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
