We started from Lille at 7pm and first went to Zaans schans, a village close to Amsterdam. It was very scenic, photogenic and beautiful. Do try the local cheese and don't forget to buy the hand creams. They are so amazing. Then we reached Amsterdam at 2pm and took a canal cruise which runs till 7pm. It was drizzling but... More

I normally stay at The Steigenberger airport hotel just minutes walk via cycle paths and two underpaths/subways to Amsterdam Bos. I always spend at least one or two nights there before a long haul flight as I want to be totally relaxed...Amsterdam Bos is a ideal, free and natural way to feel relaxed. The forest itself is massive with many... More

Huge park just outside Amsterdam. Good for walking and enjoying nature. Many bikers also enjoy going there. One can also enroll for activities like arborism but it has to be planned in advance. Is is so big people can actually get lost inside the thicker parts, so abandoning the main pathways is not a good idea if you're alone. There... More

Hand planted during the 1930s depression. The lungs of Amsterdam. Very large! Rent a bicycle and bike there. On a sunny day :-)

De Amsterdamse Bos is amazing. I learned how to bike there, because it is way less crowded than the city centre. You can go to the Goat farm in the spring where you can see cute goaties and even play with them or feed them. There is also a pancake place which is a must-go.

We hired some bikes when my friends visited from Australia and we had a wonderful few hours exploring the area. It's really a wonderful place to visit on a warm sunny day.

great place to go and see some greenery. We rented a couple of bikes and whizzed about like kids all morning. Nice and clean. I wanted peace and quiet but unfortunately I didn't bank on the location being so close to the airport. still a nice experience.

I would recommend a visit to the Bos, if in Amsterdam and you appreciate the outdoors. We spent a lovely day with bike hire in the Bos cycling the routes and paddling in the lake, whilst watching the airliners soaring from Amsterdam airport, overhead.
