I visit the tourists information center near by central station. They gave me lots of information about Amsterdam. Especially, I could get a transformation information including tram, metro and train, and also could buy a ticket. If you are not familiar with Amsterdam city, just visit there and ask about information about traveling.

Despite having prebooked my information pack online, it was not ready for collection. Additionally NO free gadget or cup of cofffee as stated on the website. We didn't feel welcomed. I tried to strike up some conversation with the guy at the counter, asking about pubs and clubs, but was met with short answers - it was quite clear that... More

Up to date information, very friendly staff with a great sense of humor. The staff even apologized for the "long" waiting line and waiting time. But, to be honest we didn't have to wait more than 3 or 4 minutes and we're in a relaxed holiday mood.

My boyfriend and I (we're both 20), found this on our way to the Anne Frank House. We were impressed and fascinated. Even if you're heterosexual, stop by if it's on the way. Because there you can find great souveniers for your gay or lesbian friends. The postcards were really funny. :) Also, the workers are the perfect example of... More

I was directed to this location for some hot, good coffee on a cold rainy day. My hubby enjoyed a great cup of coffee and we recieved some excellent directions to the sites. The gentlemen were kind and friendly. Oh and they gave us a free map :)

Have just returned from a short holiday in Amsterdam and want to introduce Hans at the Gay Tourist Information Centre. Spuistraat 44. Hans and his partner run the Information Centre and has the most amazing knowledge of what available in Amsterdam, GAY and STRAIGHT. Hans has created a shop and centre that exude friendliness and welcome. I would put Hans... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
