The Rembrandthuis is well worth a stop if you are on a cultural tour of Amsterdam. This is the large and (for it's time) very expensive home that Rembrandt bought when on the upward curve of his career. Later, it was to bankrupt him and force a downsizing to a less reputable area of the city. But your chance to... more

We just happened upon the Rembrandt House but I would recommend seeking it out. It's not a large museum but with the house set up in the way Rembrandt lived it shows life in the 1600's. There are a lot of stairs to climb but that is not out of the ordinary for anywhere in Amsterdam! more

After an unsucessful visit to the Hermitage Museum (I had to leave due to throngs of very elderly people walking like it was there last steps) I decided to make good use of my shiny new Museumkaart and make a visit to the Rembrandthuis, something I’d intended to do for a long time. I was very glad I did. I... more

This is a tour of Rembrandt's House reconstructed to how it looked back in his day before he lost it due to bankruptcy. The tour has useful languphones which explain each room to you as you go through the house. It was informative, but there are NO paintings by the great man, only paintings by his mentor or his pupils.... more

If you are wary of this museum based on other reviews, take a moment to look at the museum web-site and decide for yourself. All of Rembrandt's belongings... including his house... were auctioned when he went bankrupt. This is a recreation based on the auction list and what we see of his home in his paintings. I stood in the... more

Each etchings group is supplimented with detailed explanations regarding the technique nuances, special effects, Master's attemplts and bags so that at each step you learn more and... more

I'm not a big painting or etching fan, but this house was quite interesting. You can see how some people were living in the 17th century, plus Rembrandt had got a huge house, nothing compared to the average Amsterdam dweller. Exhibition of etching in the 4th floor, and a very nice etching performance, where you're explained step by step what... more

The house is almost totally re-created, very little of the original period house remains. The top floors contain a special exhibit with Rembrant prints in this case. Other floors had exhibits of how to make paints or prints. I don't think there were any Rembrant paintings? more

I would absolutely recommend a trip to the Rembrandt Huis. It really feels like a mini-museum. You not only get to see the type of house that Rembrandt owned (and then lost), but there is a significant amount of artwork from Rembrandt and the other Dutch Masters. I am not particularly an art lover, but I found this to be... more

Unless your a Rembrandt fan don't bother. Thought I was going to a house, a typical amsterdam house! Wrong! Glass and chrome, there was one good room the kitchen downstairs, then you went upstairs, and you were in a modern art museum. Thats it! I love Rembrandt, but I thought I was going to see his house. more
