Nice for a walk

It's a nice location for a walk and stopping at a café or restaurant for some coffee or a good lunch, but the stores are all quite pricey.

Walk around here, avoiding the big 'shopping streets' is the best thing you can do in Amsterdam. Try the small shops, not the ones that belong to a 'retail groups'. You cross many bridges across the famous canals. From the South (/East), the first of the 9 Streets is Wijde Heisteeg; already you find nice coffee (Illy) and lunch to... More

The Nine Streets is a terrific strolling and shopping area just to the west of the city centre. On one tiny little street (Runstraat) there are a multitude of shops, cafés and bars including - directly across from one another - De Witte Tandenwinkel (no. 5) which sells nothing but toothbrushes and Mensocks (no. 6) which sells, er, socks. There... More

loved walking around these beautiful streets that still manage to capture the atmosphere of old Amsterdam. Shoppers paradise if you are looking for something authentic.lots of cafes to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, don't pay the high prices in the hotels, just go and investigate these streets and u will find a nice place to eat. Loved Chica's a small... More

9 little streets winding around the canals full of small, unique and individual shops and cafes. Much better to shop here then anywhere else I went in Amsterdam. This is not touristy, it is an authentic and wonderful shopping experience. no tack to be found, and prices range from £ to ££££ so there's plenty for everyone. Also contains THE... More

Bring your credit cards- you will find something you can't live without. Dutch designer shoes, vintage glasses, Swedish designer dresses, bowls with faces, flasks that look like trout. Yes please- wrap it all up!

Nice area to walk around. Many small shops with friendly service, offering different somewhat exclusive articles (art, nerdy things, stylish clothes, etc.).

Beautiful "off the beaten path" strip of shops restaurants and lights. Great for a stroll if you're tired of the craziness downtown.

These small streets have all what one likes in Amsterdam. Only unfortunately they are becoming more touristic and thus so is the offer. I really hope the streets will be able to maintain their own character and not follow the main stream. The bars and small restaurants offer various kinds of food at various price levels. The boutiques are nice... More

This little area is full of unique, interesting and quirky little boutique shops. Its the sort of place you can go back to again and again and find something new every time. Of particular note was the photo gallery by the canal (whose name escapes me) - full of fabulous images from around the world by many famous photographers.
