We were glad the 'Negen Straatjes' were in our neighborhood and we didn't make any effort to visit them, because they're not special at all. We've been told that the nine streets were full of independent, little stores with a lot of character; if you consider Clarks, Cos or the supermarket chain Marqt as independent stores, this may be the... We were lucky to be able to stroll through the nine streets basking in sunlight. The small streets offer a variety of bars, restaurants and fun little stores to delve into. Boardgame fanatics will enjoy The Gamekeeper, a cosy gaming shop with sympathetic, knowledgeable men helping you potentially spend a lot of money. A small tip: if you walk to... More

Pros: Selection of boutique shops/cafes, beautiful architecture Cons: Selection of expensive boutique shops The Nine Streets area of the city is well worth a visit. There is a wide variety of small shops with a great selection of clothes art etc. Unless you have an unlimited budget you would be advised to keep you hands in your pockets as there... More

It's a nice location for a walk and stopping at a café or restaurant for some coffee or a good lunch, but the stores are all quite pricey.

Walk around here, avoiding the big 'shopping streets' is the best thing you can do in Amsterdam. Try the small shops, not the ones that belong to a 'retail groups'. You cross many bridges across the famous canals. From the South (/East), the first of the 9 Streets is Wijde Heisteeg; already you find nice coffee (Illy) and lunch to... More

The Nine Streets is a terrific strolling and shopping area just to the west of the city centre. On one tiny little street (Runstraat) there are a multitude of shops, cafés and bars including - directly across from one another - De Witte Tandenwinkel (no. 5) which sells nothing but toothbrushes and Mensocks (no. 6) which sells, er, socks. There... More

9 little streets winding around the canals full of small, unique and individual shops and cafes. Much better to shop here then anywhere else I went in Amsterdam. This is not touristy, it is an authentic and wonderful shopping experience. no tack to be found, and prices range from £ to ££££ so there's plenty for everyone. Also contains THE... More

Nice area to walk around. Many small shops with friendly service, offering different somewhat exclusive articles (art, nerdy things, stylish clothes, etc.).
