Beautiful architecture and a lovely atmosphere, whether you're strolling around or taking a boat! My parents (in their 50s) are convinced people only go to Amsterdam for partying, but I'm trying to convince them to go as they would love wandering around this beautiful city! More

Many good restaurants and boutiques close to the Rijkmuseum and the Van Gogh museum. A block from Vongelpark a block away. More

When in Amsterdam it is always important to take time to stroll the canal system and stop in at a cafe to people watch or more importantly watch the city go by on bicycles! More

Of the semicircular canals, Prinsengracht is the most interesting architecturally. The highlights include the Westerkerk, Anne Frank's house and many quaint merchant's town houses. You can find all sorts of boutiques, particularly near the busy bridges, but there are also very many quiet spots on some bridges which are lovely for a pause and reflection (literally) on a warm and... There is an abundance of lovely little local bars and cafes as well as restaurants around this area. It is great to absorb some local culture and cuisine here and away from all the hustle and bustle of the main streets. More
