This is a lovely area which is well worth exploring. As well as being a residential area there are plenty of shops and cafes.

That typical Amsterdam view of a long canal with a bridge in the distance covered in bikes and flowers? Well the Jordaan is that image on every corner. Cafes, bars and restaurants everywhere!

The Jordaan is what one imagines a trip to Amsterdam to be. We booked an apt. right in the heart of the Jordaan and loved it! Great atmosphere, fantastic restaurants & shops and still convenient to Centraal Station, public transportation and all the sights.

We went for a walk around the Jordaan district on a Monday morning, a very quiet time. Many of the streets are residential and also not accessible to motor vehicles, they have lots of plants in tubs and boxes and it is altogether a very pleasant area away from the main stream area of the city. There are pleasant areas... More

One of the countless authentic districts of Amsterdam, The Jordaan is on a walking distance from Central Station. With its cafes, local and ethnic restaurants and nice little shops, The Jordaan is for sure one of the coolest destinations that you should cover during your Amsterdam trip. Enjoy...

On the advice of our hotel operator, my wife and I decided to take a walk through the Jordaan district. It was a wonderful experience and a great tip to see Amsterdam as it once was. Our walk through the district was punctuated with snacks, interesting shops, and life as the locals live it. Our best meal of the day... More

Really lovely area of Amsterdam, a short walk from central station and full of great shops and cafés and restaurants. Has a great feeling of the real Amsterdam.

Enjoyed walking around this district looking at all the fabulous architecture BUT unfortunately as with all of Amsterdam it was filthy dirty with food rubbish everywhere. It really is surprising that the people of Amsterdam are willing to live like this in such dirty streets.

We stayed on a houseboat in the Jordaan area for three days in November. It is a very nice area to walk. We used a laundermat and ate at several different resturants close by. There was a farmers market nearby on Saturday. We walked everywhere.

Walk around, stop at a sidewalk cafe, just enjoy the area. It is a lovely neighborhood to spend time in.
