The museum's special exhibition chronologically walks you through Van Gogh's art, including a cigarette-smoking skull from his student days to the Wheat Field with Crows of his last days. Interspersed are paintings by Gauguin, Lautrec and Bernard -- friends and contemporaries who influenced Van Gogh. Also on display are his works on paper, letters, original sketchbooks and a paint palette.... More

A must see when in Amsterdam. Lot's of Van Gogh's paintings and drawings are displayed in this modern museum. A great insight on his life as a painter. The museum gets very crowded. Try buying tickets online to avoid waiting in line.

I am not professional in art and art history, but I liked it a lot. Specially when listening to the story behind each masterpiece, I found it very interesting.

Can you imagine one museum holding so many of the best works of art? It would be expensive. So you can imagine the representations here. The main body of work was the etchings and sketching of Van Gogh. Most of his masterpieces are in museums scattered around the world or in private collections. There is a large collection of real... If you love Van Gogh's paintings this is a must. When we visited, it was temporarily housed in the Hermitage (another interesting place to visit). There are crowds, but time it right and it's not too bad. There is also a good souvenir shop, if you're interested.

Not having Van Gogh as one of my favorite artists did not detract from the wonderful and revealing history lesson you are set for when you visit this expansive museum. I found it very , very interesting providing one a glimpse into this mans life and his art. Hundreds of his paintings are displayed for your up close review, as... More

I really liked how this museum brings you through Van Gogh's life and his development as a painter. There is a great collection of his works from each period to illustrate this progression well. There are also interactive exhibits along the way to keep everyone interested.

The museum is very interesting and well thought-out. It has a great atmosphere and interactive elements. Unlike the Picasso museum in Barcelona (which is a complete waste of time, by the way) this hotel has a great&comprehensive collection that you'll enjoy looking through.

The audioguide was great. The museum was a manageable size so you can actually go through it all without getting overwhelmed, and the bookstore is very thorough (you'llwant to buy it all)!
