Our family, with teenagers in tow, really enjoyed this museum. The museum helps you understand the artist which makes the huge display of his works from all periods of his career much more meaningful. The audio guide is well worth the money for all the extra information it provides. I noticed most people going to his later masterpieces (and that's... More

big queue to get in... I would suggest getting a ticket from your hotel before going so you can just walk straight on in... it really is no dearer than the ticket price on the door!

We've been 3 times to Amsterdam and we have visited most of the museums and sightseeings. Actually, during one of our stays we had 1 whole day around the museums - starting with Anne Frank's House in the morning, then visiting Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and endind the tour with the Hermitage. You know too much culture and seeing at... More

I dont know much about art but decided to visit the museum and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. We hired the audio tour which was helpful and informative and made me start to understand a little more about the life of Van Gogh as well as the paintings. It is worth getting your ticket in advance... More

I like that this museum is divided into section that reflects Van Gogh's personal development. His paintings reflects his personality from time to time, so human:). Too bad we cant take pictures.

Also exhibits that put him and his art into context, and exhibit that explains how he painted. The museum is very crowded, understandable but detracting. We did not think that the lighting was the most favorable and many... More

I was impressed to see so many visitors, but at times it felt too crowded and difficult if not impossible to spend time admiring individual works. Also, no pictures allowed not even without flash.
