It is an incredibly well done museum documenting the very unique Jewish History of Amsterdam where 2 different Jewish cultures came together. There are great artifacts and wonderful stories that detail the life and evolution of Jewish culture in Amsterdam.

The museum is located in one of Amsterdam's old synagogues. The museum tells the story of the Jewish community that lived in Amsterdam for hundreds of years. Through the development of the community you can learn about the development of Amsterdam. The visit is free if you have the "Amsterdam card" .

A detailed history of Jewish life in Amsterdam , rich and poor, over the centuries to the present. The second world war and the Dutch willingness to turn over the Jews to the Nazis is described. Fewer Jews survived than I had thought, and the Dutch were very slow to pay any reparations.

Fascinating insight into the fate of the Jewish population of Amsterdam in the 2nd world war and how they felt when they returned. Lots of interesting archive footage and interviews. Also how a synagogue works. Very good audio guide system.

Again included in our city pass so we stopped in. If you have the time, it's worth visiting to gain a perspective of Jewish history in the Netherlands.

I found that there was a lot to absorb when visting the museum and the Portuguese synagogue. I would make this the last stop in your afternoon tour. It is quite extensive and could take awhile.

This was one of my favorite museums and I spent 3 hrs here. The lower portion of the museum has the whole history of the Jewish faith, which I found very interesting and I learned a lot. Interactive exhibits as well. There was a fantastic photography exhibit on display while I was there. I admit, I am not a huge... More
