Lots of choice and some quirky stalls

Lots of tie dye, leather goods and souvenirs. Not for everybody but it was worth the visit. Covers a large area with some snack stalls and cafes in the nearby buildings.

Seems like an average flea market with various stalls of souvenirs of average quality. The 2nd hand items looked worthwhile. Food stalls didn't look very appealing to me. It was convenient for my family to visit because we rented a houseboat nearby so we walked through the market everyday. Nothing really looked worth buying.

Walked down the this market on a Saturday afternoon as we stayed nearby. Not really worth the time. Bags, t-shirts, old shoes, a bit of drug paraphinalea. No real atmosphere. Not frequented by locals as far as I can see. It was very very hot that day so perhaps better at other times.

A mish-mash of stalls, including the usual tourist souvenirs, lots of 'hash' related paraphernalia, hippy-style clothing, antiques, books and much more. It is interesting to walk around and leads onto a nice canal area with bars and over the bridge are boutique shops a bridge with the trend of locks on.

Expensive t-shirts and souvenirs. Lots of junk. Not worth the time. Other markets are much better. Go to Noordemarkt on Saturdays.

I'm bound to say I loved this Flea Market because I made some excellent purchases - a pair of cheap and stylish boots (40 euros) and a fabulous vintage frock (40 euros). Yes there's a fair amount of tat, but you get that at any flea market - you have to look and chat to the stall holder to get... More

I walked by but I tend to want to experience when I travel, not shop. For those that like to shop antiques and knock off products I suggest you go.

I really loved this market very much, there is a lot of nice vintage clothes and shoes to be found. Don't forget to bargain, because the market vendors tend to ask to much in their expectation you are actually going to bargain.

The stuff was average in term of quality, variety and price. But if you are lucky you can find some of that are you are looking for . I found a ring gemstone that old enough with just 5 euro.

Lots of cheap tourist vendors selling repeated quantities of low quality souvenirs or clothes. A few antique and 'flea market' stalls, but otherwise generally a waste of time

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighborhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
