Het Doktertje (Cafe t'Doktor) is one of the best pubs in Amsterdam.Tiny little place full of character and very very old (openened 1798) the place is dusty a bird cage is hanging above bar and has about a 100 years dust on it.The man behind the bar is a gentleman who treats locals and tourists the same.Very small inside must... Tiny bar crammed with dusty rubbish, playing background jazz. The barman helped us choose genevers. Pleasingly weird

I don't mind the dust and cobwebs on the walls, chandeliers and ceiling, but having dirty glasses is unacceptable. Not to mention the unfriendly service. This place is in the heart of the city and should be welcoming to all visitors, not just the locals.

We went in to this bar without knowing what's behind the door. As we sat down we quite soon paid attention to those very old lamps on the ceiling with dust on them. My husband went to ask wheter the dust is real and the bartender, a real gentleman, said, yes they are over 100 years old. That's where the... More

The best bar I've ever been in. Cozy, messy, delightfully dusty. Kind of like getting invited into someone's basement. The silver bar top is beautiful and the bartender is a pleasure to talk with.
