Just returned from Trafalgar Tour best of Holland Belgium and Luxembourg.....totally amazing. Our tour guide Veronica was so knowledgeable in all aspects of the culture, history, food, architecture of the places we visited. Kudos to our driver Peter who navigated that large bus through the narrow streets and alleys.....always smiling and ready to engage in interesting conversation at any time.... More

I have booked many private tours through the Internet. The biggest problem usually is the quality of the English spoken by the guide. I have paid occasionally for guides I could not understand. Fazi Ahmed, our guide, had fabulous English! She was extremely experienced and really knew the history, art, and culture of Amsterdam. Laere with the company helped us... More

We booked a tour of the RLD for a group of 12 with Amsterdamsel Tours. The service and communication was great right from booking. Our tour guide, Bas, was really informative and showed us the sights. He took us to places which, being 12 women, we probably wouldn't have visited ourselves. We all felt really safe and Bas took us... More

Larae was wonderful. We just got back from Amsterdam on January 4, 2015. Larae gave us a fantastic tour of Central Amsterdam and the Red Light district. She was engaging, funny, yet professional. The tour was well organized, and it covered all the major attractions. She also included special hidden highlights that made the trip much more personal. It could... More

went on this tour with my family and wasnt dissapointed. They translate to the guests in several languages and you are kept very informed. Travelled over to amsterdam using dfds seaways which was also a great part of the adventure... highly reccomended. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bu6jsKDUkuw

We were a group of 20 people from work visiting Amsterdam and Larae was a life-saver in terms of helping me organize the whole thing. She organized (i) a tailor-made walking tour of central Amsterdam, (ii) a private dinner cruise on the canals and (iii) a tour of the Rijksmuseum for our whole party. All went very smoothly, the guides... More

Berber our tour guide was amazing, very professional, and informative. I definitely suggest taking the tour with her, if it is at all possible.

Larae and her colleague provided a great tour of Amsterdam's main and slightly hidden sites, which is exactly what we were looking for. All 50 university students that were with us seemed very pleased with this experience, which gave them an insightful overview of the city, its past and present. I am happy we chose Larae and hope we'll be... More

A fun and educational introduction to Amsterdam: We booked our tour with Larae but she had a schedule conflict so she sent her associate Terry O'Leary. I was initially disappointed not to have Larae after so many good reviews about her, but she assured me in advance that we would be pleased with Terry and we were. We met Terry... More

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighborhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
