You've never seen a library like this one! You can read, listen, see, surf, eat, drink, relax.... And have a lovely view on the old city of Amsterdam while enjoying a drink on the roof terrace.

Not sure about the quality of books, but the architecture of this place is brilliant. Striking building. Worth a visit just to have a nosy around.

Even though this place is called a library, it is not a library. The ground floor boasts a piano that anyone walking by can sit down to and show their skills or complete lack thereof. Have you ever been to a library with a piano? Library was once for reading, reading requires concentration, concentration requires absence of a piano on... More

This was an insiders tip for us. The Library has a wonderful 7th floor Cafe with a large selection of foods/soups/salads and snacks along with beer and wine. It is very affordably priced and has a view of the city at just a fraction of the price of the Hotels and other skylounges ... a much better value.

What a surprise! I have always loved libraries but this brings the notion of "the library" to a new realm...and I am proud of our library in Seattle. It is worth the walk to Oosterdok to visit this spectacular site and it is FREE! TIP: Be sure to visit all the spaces on the different floors...ending with the top floor... More

in the cafeteria on the Seventh floor. Food is prepared in front of you:grillades, pizza and stir-fry for a very reasonable price. And the view on the city is wonderful. Granted I love librairies and I always visit one on my trips.

As I was in Amsterdam with my daughter who is a true bookworm we decided to pay the library a visit. I'm glad we did as it was amazing. The layout and open design of the whole building defies my previous knowledge of what libraries look like and the atmosphere is great. When we arrived there was someone playing classical... More

We had read about the view from the library but were surprised at what a modern up to date place it was--with some ususual designs and lighting. Also suprising was that fact it was open to 10 PM, even on a Friday (you usually do not have that in libraries in that states). On the top floor is a great... More

Try the restaurant on the 7th floor - great value, good food, with views over the city from the terrace. Impressive building and facilities.

Wow, this will change your perception of good old libraries forever. Enormous in size and numbers of books stored, it is a cosy brightly lit building that makes you want to stay there forever. Very user friendly, full of cosy furniture, the atmosphere is indeed very homely. Leave your Kindle at home and come see the true Library of the... More
