We are told that the library had magnificent views of the city from the coffee shop on the trip floor. It is a beautiful building, with a great coffee shop- but the veranda with views has been close for over 2 months and there are no signs until you get to the top. Disappointing,

Just visit this library as any other attraction in Amsterdam. This is something you will not see in other countries.

I was told to go and get a decent cup of coffee amongst the local people in the Roelof Hartplein library by my Dutch friends. I did and enjoyed just being there and making use of their free Wifi and looking out of the window. Friendly staff too.

Access to this library is free. The modern designed building is located right next to Amsterdam Centraal Station. It provides a great place to check e-mail, study up on your visit, read one of the 1.7 million books, see the library museum, have a coffee or hot chocolate in the cafe/restaurant or meet locals. This is a much more pleasant... More

I like to have a look at the central libraries for the large cities I visit. This one to me was just average. They have a nice collection, but not a lot in the way of architecture, exhibits, or atmosphere. It's not far from the city center though if you need something to do for a few.

Nice quiet and well lit place. If in need for a rest, go here, read a little or close your eyes. It's close to the central train station.

Even if you don't like books visit the OBA (close to central station). The view on the 6th of 7th floor is amazing. You can take the elevator up there free of charge. This is a beautiful hidden gem in Amsterdam. The restaurant on the 7th floor is really good too but slightly on the more expensive side.

This library is to the left of the central station, and close to the NEMO exhibit. It is seven floors, with the top floor having a pretty nice view of the city. On the same floor is a restaurant/cafe called La Place, which serves everything fresh, and where you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee while enjoying the view.... More
