Worth a visit

If you like a good library this is a must see. Good for rainy days and if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

My wife is a librarian and insisted we go here during our honeymoon because apparently it is one of the most famous and popular libraries in the world, not to mention being on the cutting edge of technology in terms of libraries. There is pretty much everything you could want from a library and I would have to say that... More

A shockingly large collection of CDs & DVDs ! Whole floors of the building filled with shelving. The building itself is an interesting structure and the views are cool. Definitely worth a walk around.

Lovely 7 floors of Library. Has a great view point of Amsterdam. Sadly the balcony wasn't available. Would of loved to had a coffee and cake out with a birds eye view

This was further from the train station then expected but well work the walk. The view from the observation deck off the restaurant are wonderful and the library itself is floor after floor of open, light, airy rooms filled with books, art, media. If I lived near this library, I would visit every day!

I went there to have lunch on the 7th floor from where you have a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. The restaurant offers a large choice of dish, rather good (try the fresh smoothies !) and for a cheap price (I ate for 9€). The library is huge and its architecture is quite impressive.

This review is slightly biased as I went on a fairly rainy November day and although the building is nice this is far from a must visit in Amsterdam. The views are great but there isn't much else to see from a tourist perspective. Also be aware that unless you're a library member you have to pay for Wi-Fi.

The views are famous. The food court on the top floor utilises the space wonderfully. Do take time to explore the books. There are many in English. The free piano downstairs is always nice as the conservatorium of music is close by and the students show their talent.

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
