Very nice and modern library, futuristic, has a diner and cafe facilities. Free Wifi ,a lot of books obviously and multi media. I recommended grabbing a book going to the higher floors like 4-5-6 sit on the comfortable chairs facing the large glass windows overlooking the water. What a view!!!! And very calming especially after battling the hectic city. There... More

Books, lots of them, some in English; wifi and workstations; quiet spaces with gorgeous views; interesting inhabitants of the city; CD's and DVD's; coffee, cake and a solid lunch; white and open spaces to stroll around in. The public library near the railway station at Oosterdokskade 143 is more than just a library; it's an attractive architectural and social space.... More

The building zelf is very modern. I'm not a book wurm but it's a pleasure to be in this library. I come specially for the architecture. I love the lamps, very artistic. Sure I'll be back to see the view of amsterdam from the the top floor.

Good choice of English titles. Little cabins where it´s possible to retreat for awhile with a good book. Upstairs cafe with nice food and great views.

On the top floor of the library is La Place cafeteria. The food selection is amazing and most is cooked fresh for you as you wait. There is a juice bar, desserts, fresh fruit, pizzas, sandwiches, soups, a grill bar for chicken or burgers, beverages including beer or wine. We chose a chicken stir fry, and you choose your vegs,... Recommended by the guide on a walking tour this was the best buffet I've come across in many years in any establishment let alone a non- commercial one! Its located in the modern public library building a little to the west of Central Station. It also has the advantage of a great view from the 7th floor terrace. The selection... More
