We found the tram didn't really serve the Library, I guess people walk up or take a different bus, but it was a short walk (with some stairs) from #26 IJBurg tramline Musiekgebouw stop to the back side of the Library. It wasn't the prettiest corner of Amsterdam. Once inside, the building was bright and handsome with many floors of... More

We just went for lunch on the top floor, which was great, but the view from up there is fantastic. It's got a lovely terrace to eat outside on, the menu is vast, all served from a carvery type counter inside, and cooked fresh there and then.

We happened by the library and I had read that it was impressive building, so we decided to check it out. Totally worth it. Amazing building, inspiring really. There is a piano near the front door and when we walked in we saw a man go over and start playing. Lovely. Great views of the city. and the kids section?... More

It's a large library with many floors. The cafe on the top floor offered a wonderful, delicious cafeteria-style format, with many tables and a great view of the city.

Public library's don't normally get very much attention. However this is not an ordinary library. It is a amazing building. The interia it wonderfully thought out and designed. Then to top it off it has breath taking views across the city from the 6th and 7th floors. Try and visit around sunset to experience the city in a different way.... More

Bottom floor is full of children's books with interesting seating areas that kept our 2 year old entertained for a good hour or so.

My girlfriend and I walked from the city to this library for the sole purpose of having dinner. Had dinner at the cafe called "La Place" on the 7th floor which offers great views of the city. The library is really big and quiet. Toilets were perfect.

Over the years we have seen the development of this dock area... From looking through the hoardings while the piling was completed, and now to our visits to the exhibitions on the mezzanine level, the admiration of the art works , IT and books on various stages' and the super view from the 7th floor visit, and of course eating... Basicly best library in the world and ready to set the standard. Don't try any food or so around there, the city has plenty to offer
