just the place for a leisurely drink on a Sunday afternoon

Great decor - shame we only found it on our last afternoon in Amsterdam, would have liked to have eaten there as menu looked good.

The library is worth visiting if you're in the vicinity but I wouldn't make a special stop to see it. A friend raved about the view from the library's 7th floor balcony so we made a point of going there for lunch one day. The view was alright - we didn't find it spectacular. In fact, it's somewhat limited. The... More

There's a great view from the top floor of the library. I heard the food is good -and cheap- though we didn't partake.

This restaurant is on the top floor of the Central Library, and offers great views of the city. After getting our cafeteria food, we ate at a long table where we quickly struck up a conversation with some grad. students in physics and economics which lasted long after our meals were over. The Dutch are very friendly, and we met... More

Beautiful new building by Centraal Station. In the entrance, up the escalators to the view right over the city

We went to see the building as an architectural landmark. The escalators just keep going up and up with different resources on every level. The actual resources given to the people of Amsterdam are really great, lots of reading material in book and electronic form and little hidey spaces to rest/read/study in. We were just there as visitors on a... More

Great library, worth the visit not only for the reading, but also for the great panoramic view of Amsterdam.

Visited to enjoy the view from the cafe. Restaurant ok; view interesting. Take the escalator to cafe, rather than lift, to see a wonderful library - media floor looked amazing: lucky locals.

We made our way here to see the view from the restaurant on the top floor and it was pretty much worth it. We had high hopes of the restaurant itself and on first impressions, you certainly couldn't fault the choice and variety of the offerings, but the cooking itself and the service had a slightly familiar public institution vibe.... It's free, you can see the city from above. There's a cafeteria at the last floor, delicious and healthy food, but expensive.
