A lovely park if the wheather is nice, also nice to see all the different types of architecture. Good to get your bearings of where everything is, there's the hop on hop off bus opposite the rijkmuseum as well, which is a good place to see the city.

One of the many free and pleasant things to do in the city. Even if you have already visited all the museums, and have had your picture taken at the famous "iamsterdam" sign, you can still admire the pretty landscape and architecture while sitting at Museumplein with the food and company of your choice. It is absolutely lovely. Public transport... More

One of the more popular places that we went to in Amsterdam. We didn't visit the museums but walked around the area and there were plenty of tourists taking pictures at the "I Amsterdam" sign, ice-skating, and taking a stroll around the Christmas market. I would call this place "lively" and we took lots of pictures. When I'm back there... More

Apart from the IAmsterdam sign they also had an ice skating area that the kids were loving. Beautiful sight for photos. There's a super market, some shops and of course the amazing museums!

This square is strategically located between the Van Gogh and Rijks museums and near the Stedelijk museum and the Concertgebouw. It's also where you can find the monument written I AMSTERDAM in huge letters, a popular place for pictures. Around the square you find a lot of restaurants, hotels and cafes.

We were staying in a hotel close to Museumplein so we walked by it every day. It's a real hub, with three of Amsterdam's main museums nearby: the Rijksmuseum, van Gogh and Stedelijk. Lots of people take their photographs at the famous sign "IAmsterdam". Now in winter there is also an ice rink.

Museumplein is the access square to the most important museums in the city: Rijks Museum, Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk. You can also find the famous I AMSTERDAM sign- The square is full of tourists and there are lots of street food stands where you can enjoy a warm meal.

This park near the museums is wonderful to walk through and get a different perspective on the museum buildings.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighborhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
