I am a big fan of free walking tours in general and SANDEMANs walking tours specifically. I have been on many free walking tours in Europe and I just wasn't as impressed with this one. It took you to see the sights of Amsterdam, but just didn't seem to be filled with as much background knowledge and information about the... More

My three friends and I had the opportunity to join Rocco on a tour of Amsterdam center this week. I have been to more than a few places, done more than a few tours, but this was by far one of the best! If you get the chance (and you can request Rocco!) it's a must-do!

The free tour is really good! Then the tour of the Red Light District is also very interesting! I do not recommend the pub crawl that they sell, is not from the same company and is not good

I was in Amsterdam for a weekend with a group of international students. Our guide was Kendra, from Alaska; the city tour with her has been an unforgettable experience and the reason is because she caught my attention for the entire tour. Why? Because she constantly spoke with a mix of jokes, history and consideration of Dutch society. I learnt... More

I am a Spanish girl living in The Netherlands and I highly recommend this tour and NOLO (the guide). I already enjoyed tours with Sandemans in Amsterdam, Paris and Munich but this time was the best. I will definetly do the Red Light District tour and I will choose him. KR. Irene.

Perfect merge of both historical and fun facts. Even though it was rainning we had a lot of fun and got a very wide understanding of both Amsterdam's past and present. I recommend Eric as a tour guide.

In january I did the red light district tour with Dominique as our guide. I live in Amsterdam myself, but she had a lot of new and interesting things to tell and to show that I never knew before! She was really enthousiastic and really friendly, and the price for a two hour tour is good too. Highly recommend Sandemans... More

I traveled with my couple to Amsterdam and we booked this free walking tour because a friend recommended us to do it. We Nolo as our Spanish tour guide. All I can say is that it was amazing. He showed and explained to us everything about Amsterdam but not just that, he also recommended us restaurants, bars and other places... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighborhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
