I would not bother to visit these caves again. There is quite an uphill track up to them, & once inside it is pitch black, apart from the Tilley lanterns a few carried (supplied), with many miles of passages, with uneven ground, so not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. They were mined for the marl stone from the Roman... More

A really unique place to visit though it's a little bit cold down in the caves. Remember staying closer to tour guide. Once you get lost you probably vanish forever because the caves are really huge and complex. Make sure don't use flash light when people's face near your camera, that makes others blind...

When researching this area I was a little unsure what these caves would be like. It was also difficult to choose which caves to visit but the choice and timing of an english language tour made my mind up for me. The tour was easy to book online or you could turn up and buy a ticket. Good value at... More

After a nice morning jog to St. Pietersberg, my girlfriend and I fell upon this interesting attraction. Little did we know that it would be such a pleasant experience. I will not give you the highlights # nospoilers, but if you get the chance I highly recommend the english caves tour with Auke (very informative, friendly and comical guide)!

Did not know of this attraction until looked through the guidebooks and it is absolutely worth the trip. Just unbelievable to see what needs can create and the labyrinth of tunnels that was excavated and built. We followed the Dutch guided tour as there was an error with the English guided tour times and missed out on lots of information... More

Have you ever been in totally darkness? In Maastricht you can visit the caves from the Sint Pietersberg. Originally all the corridors had a length from about 200 km. You can see a lot of pictures made through centuries on the walls. Your gide will tell you evrything about the history of the caves and how they originated. I am... More

man made passageways covering a total of 250 Klms. They were used by the Maastricht residents as shelter during war times, until iberation.Well worth a visit and the overall trip cost about €32 for two people. There is about a ten minute uphill walk from the boat to the restaurant at the caves and a further 7-8 minute walk to the caves.

We had an underground tour with a guide, who explained everything and made it highly interesting. Even my 6-year old nephew was not bored and he doesn't understand English. During summer it's important to keep in mind that it's around 9 degrees there.

Very good tour guide, experiencing total darkness was quite eery. These are not actually caves but man made tunnels dating back hundreds of years

The trip underground took us from blistering 35 degree sunshine to a much cooler 10 degrees. Our guide, Ed, was worth the entrance money on his own as he regaled us with tales and jokes, along with facts and figures about the umpteen miles of tunnels carved out of the hillside. I won't spoil the experience by saying anything else... More
