The architecture alone makes a visit worthwhile. Very friendly staff at the reception. The collection was an interesting mix of classic and modern art. A lot of religious art and old Dutch masters, a very interesting exhibition of Japanese art by artists that are in an mental institution. Apart from Sol LeWitt and Van Lieshout, we also enjoyed the exhibition... More

The building itself is worth your visit. Standard collection not particularly interesting, temporary expositions can be thrilling or boring, as it is with modern art....

Part permanent collection (lots of religious works) part temporary exhibitions. Not the greatest but fine to spend an hour or so away from the busier parts of Maastricht.

It wasn't a Museum as such, more of a modern art collection. We were hoping to learn something of Maastricht's past and heritage.

On Eyewitness, my inseparable guide, it is in bold letters, so we had to go, when coming for couple of hours from Brussels on an independent day trip. The museum is very nice, we spent here 50 minutes, and 15 more at the store, where a 70% discount caught our eye. I'm not into art too much, but for you... More

The museum contains a mixture of art - from old to very modern. Maybe I was when nothing special was posted there, but the museum looks empty , partly it has been renovated. Medieval paintings are worth seeing.

Large and interesting art museum with permanent and temporary exhibitions. We were given a lot of information (in English) at the ticket desk which enhanced our visit. The staff was helpful and friendly both in the museum and the restaurant (we had a very nice lunch there). We spent a lot longer at the museum than expected as we hadn't... More

Using our Museumkaart we visited this museum. We're not great modern art fans but the building itself and the layout were interesting. Also, we were given an English booklet explaining the thinking behind the exhibitions which helped us understand more about them. Nice space along the river, would pop in again to see what new exhibitions come up.

I went to Bonnefanten to see their exposition about revolution in Russian art, which was very informative and well thought out. The part where they reconstructed the Russian recreational outdoors was a very pleasant surprise. The permanent exhibition holds a lot of medieval art, mainly from the region. There's also someone restoring paintings in the museum. The museum itself is... More
