The gardens are AMAZING! The house was wonderful - definitely do the guided tour. I think it was only a few euro per person but absolutely worth it. Check out the stables too if you can. We didn't know where they were and it started raining so we didn't see them. We jogged by them a few days later and... More

A formal redbrick building built by William and Mary, this is a beautiful palace that evokes Dutch rulers across five centuries through an excellent range of paintings and room displays. Also well worth seeing is the collection of royal carriages and cars in beautiful condition. The restaurant provides good quality reasonably priced lunches. There is also currently an excellent exhibition... More

The palace was built in 1685 William III and Queen Wilhelmina lived there to 1962, and celebrates the House of Orange-Nassau. Beautifully furnished with English audio guide, very pretty and great landscaped gardens. A must see experience

This is quite a beautiful palace and gardens that are still used by the royal family. Be sure to pick a nice day as the gardens are spectacular and worth spending time browsing around. We ate at the garden restaurant and the food was very good. We spent less time wandering through the house although they have an amazing collection... More

I spent 8 days in the Netherlands based in Amsterdam. We are so thrilled we made this one of our day trips. I work at a Garden in US and Palais Het Loo was listed in an email that had the 10 best designed gardens in the world. I put it on my list for the trip. Not hard to... More

Most tourist won't leave the capital and think the Royal palace at the dam square is the palace of the netherlands. It is their loss that they don't take the two hour trip to Apeldoorn where they can visit a palace that for the low contries is the dutch Versailles. The palace was a residence of the House of Orange-Nassau... More

A beautiful palace that shows the Dutch way of living by the Royals in the old days. We visited also the special SiSi exhibition. The gardens are also very pretty to walk thru. Unfortunately the palace closes at 5pm and also the restaurants. It would be better to close the restaurants an our later. A must see when you are... More

Unless you're really into this sort of thing then I wouldn't bother cause it is pretty boring. I found myself wandering round rooms looking at medals which I wasn't really interested in. The gardens were lovely but would be much better if there was more grass and less pebbles. There was an exhibit on about a woman sissi or something... More

We have seen many palaces in Europe, but this one looks like it was a lovely place to live and not overly pretentious. Indeed, the Royal Family continues to use it, as they should. There is always a chance of overload when you are being shunted through a big and historical extravaganza. Still, there are many nuggets of information available... More
