It’s compact, tree-filled and has about 2,000 animals from 250 different species. There are tropical rainforests and an enormous biosphere. The fascinating Madagascar pavilion and the elephant house are worth a look. Open daily. « less

Amazing zoo set just out of the town of Zurich - so easy to get to on the tram or driving. Amazing facilities for children - excellent restaurants/play areas/coffee shops - one of my favourite places to go with the children in Zurich.

All I can say that this zoo reminds me of Amsterdam Zoo although it was disheartening to see that there were a number of places where construction was taking place to house new animal exhibits.

One of the most reaponsible zoos i have ever been to as sometimes they can be so depressing. The elephant house is gigantic!

So while it is somewhat sad that we need zoos to protect and preserve the world's animals it is good to be in a zoo in Switzerland. Most of the exhibits are spacious, well done and designed to educate i.e.( rhino horn is made of the same stuff as human finger nails so if you think Rhino horn is good... More

The zoo is very well organized and is not too big. The conditions of inhabitants are done so that they would be close to their natural. Although it is a zoo, you cannot create too natural conditions, otherwise the territory would be much bigger and the guests would see the animals from big distance. Plan at least 3-4 hours to... I was so excited to visit the Zoo again after 8 years when I visited the first time and as I recall it was a beautiful trip. But this time, I am disappointed, you walk and walk and walk non stop and all what you see at the end is an elephant and the penguins. All the signs in the... More

The Zoo has come a long way since I used to visit it as a child. The highlight of this visit was the new elephant habitat, where the elephants moved earlier in the year. The building is beautifully embedded in its surroundings, and the elephants have so much room to interact and move around. At the same time, you can... More

Almost worth a visit without the animals. So well designed and the animal enclosures were spacious and worked hard to create an environment right for the animals. The baboon area with the cliffs allows you to watch the social antics of a baboon tribe. Take a picnic - there were so many lovely places to stop and eat and still watch... More

The animals were starting to stir after their strenuous napping. The snow leopard family was especially enchanting. And I was transfixed by some sort of gremlin in an after-thought sort of cage near the upper snack bar. The panorama of India's lion reserve was another funky touch that I loved.
