It’s compact, tree-filled and has about 2,000 animals from 250 different species. There are tropical rainforests and an enormous biosphere. The fascinating Madagascar pavilion and the elephant house are worth a look. Open daily. « less

Wear good walking shoes, you will need several hours if you chose to visit the entire park. The zoo has a smartphone app that you can use as a map that also informs you of the various events in the park, such as feeding hours etc. Sundays are crowded (naturally !), so prefer weekdays if you are here on vacation.... It's modern, animals have lots of space and it's always a very nice day with the kids when we go there. The Masoala hall is somewhat of a mixed feeling; while it's probably great for animals, kids are usually disapointed because you don't see many of them.

Very worthwhile, in particular for families. Visit in particular the Masoala Hall and the soon to open elephant area.

The Zurich Zoo has undergone tremendous and exciting changes in the past few years. It continuously improves the habitat of its various inhabitants, the newest addition being a completely new section for the elephants, imitating their African Origin.
