Well chosen and displayed collection in interesting building. Temporary exhibition program is also very good.

I visited the museum on a rainy day and many other people had the same idea, so it was a bit crowded in the temporary exhibition about Japanese influences on European painters. Everywhere else in the museum it was quiet though, so I could walk very quietly along the medieval paintings and the modern art part of the museum. The... More

The permanent exhibition is ok. I had the chance to see the exhibition of Degas, Monet, Van Gogh in comparison with Japanese artists and this was really amazing!!

The audio guide is free so be sure to borrow one. I visited on a rather busy day (people were lining up for tickets) but still had a pleasant time.

Friendly people. Great exhibit tracing influence of Japanese art on impressionist and later period- think Degas, Toulouse Lautrec, Picasso. Great permanent display of Giacommetti sculpture and painting. Nice but not outstanding impressionist permanent collection

The highlights for me were two of the most incredible Van Gogh paintings, worth the trip by themselves, the Ferdindand Hodler collection, especially the... More

Japan Inspiration was a stunning exhibit that introduced me to new influences on Impressionist art. Unfortunately, the exhibit is temporary, but I'm betting that subsequent ones will be done with the same good taste.

Good place - walk up from the old tow - its really not that far. Spacious place with all sorts of fascinating exhibits. Easy to get round. Outside as you go - look up to see the giant Calder mobile, just hanging there - wonderful. excellent coffee shop and restaurant too. Not so large that you feel overwhelmed.

We were there specially for the Inspiration of Japan exhibition which was excellent. there was so much to see that we didn't have time to see everything as we had to travel back the same day. We hope to back again.
