This museum is certainly in transition with an enormous building and restructuring program, but to call it boring says far more about the traveler than it could ever say about the museum. There were quite a few superb exhibits, but perhaps to the person who just walks in and out, without taking the effort to stop and examine things, it... More

We were not sure to go in but we had a rainy day so we decide to get in to be warm. Were were not disappointed. The building is fabulous. It has really interesting things and stories about Switzerland Is not a Museum for kids as is a very calm and quiet environment. The staff is really helpful

may be that's what you sometimes also think about Switzerland...this museum is not very big but it's a nice building with an interesting exhibition about the history of CH and always something new to discover either in the permanent or in temporary exhibitions...so I'm coming back constantly :)))

There were nothing special for kids but if I would have been there without a child I would have been there longer. It would have been lovely to read all interesting history of Switzerland. Perhaps next time...?

Despite the ongoing renovations, the visit was not hampered in any way. Extremely well laid out, very friendly, helpful staff. Leave your things in the lockers. It's warm and a coat is unneccesary inside. Bright, multilingual showcases. Large easy-to-read print. Wonderful cafe with a wide selection. Comfy. Could not see everything. Will go back on my next visit.

This was a great afternoon spent. Lots to see and learn, in beautiful and creative ways. Some of the exhibits were a bit mundane - a floor dedicated to Swiss furniture?? But those were easy enough to skip.

An interesting museum although parts were closed - which was a disappointment. But overall enjoyed it.

A very complete museum, well presented, but I think they should put information in english or other languages, even for Swiss nationals that speaks Italian, they should have the information at least in the three official languages spoken in Switzerland.

One of the first things we try to do in any city is visit their history museum for an overview of the local history from start to finish, what shaped the people, why things are the way they are, and how they fit into the world around them. What I found amazing about this Swiss National museum was 2 fold... More

great experience going to the museum. you need several hours to walk through the museum to see all the exhibits there.there are pieces from history : there's fashion, furniture, movie clips of pieces of history. History of witches all the way through the Reformation ,early Bibles from the 1300 all the way up to present day.
