Well presented, but the material is of variable interest. The building layout is confusing and not well signed. Despite the good bits, we left with a bitty overall impression of the place.

I had been to the Swiss National Museum once before to see the permanent collection. This time, I went specifically to see a special exhibition called "The Tie: Men Fashion Power", covering the historical evolution of the tie. The exhibition begins in the 17th century, when those things we where around are neck looked much different, all the way to... More

The museum was very quiet during the time and day I went, which meant I wasn't jostled about trying to looking at displays. That being said, I honestly didn't find the overall collection within the museum all that interesting. Sure, I do feel like I have a better understanding of how Switzerland came to be the way it is now,... More

I have been in the Swiss National Museum twice within 2 weeks. It is quite large since there is a lot to see and explore. From the beginning until the end it is very informative and interesting. Therefore, amongst others, the perfect place for tourists to spend their afternoon and to learn more about Swiss history.

This is a wonderful museum containing artifacts, dioramas, and examples of the Swiss culture and history. It helped me appreciate the uniqueness of Switzerland's place in time and history.

A very rich, expansive, and informative museum, although the layout is quite confusing and arduous; too many items too see, and unfortunately the rooms, exhibition halls were not organized in an easily flowing manner, requiring backtracks, repeats etc. Nevertheless, a very rich museum, worth the visit; minimum 2,3 hrs necessary to enjoy it all.

There is just so much to see here. Relics, Swiss rooms, History of the Canons, etc. There is so much here, we spend about 2 hours and need about 2 times that. would definitely go back; and so easy to get to right by the main train station.

This museum takes you through the earliest days of settlement of the area through to the modern era. More Swiss history than you ever thought you needed or wanted.

Being a fan of museums and history, I had this museum on a my wish list to visit while I was in Zurich and being next to the station, I popped in for a couple of hours. The museum was partially under construction but that seemed to only effect the entrance while I was there. No taking photos, something I... More

demonstrates history of Switzerland very nicely. features a temporary exhibition usually. I would recommend taking 3 hours or more if you wanna look at everything. You can do in less of course.
