I visited this museum when I had a day to kill by myself. It cost 10 franks and I was in there for 3 hours. I spent my time wandering through different parts of the museum and learnt a variety of things about Swiss history across many time frames. I left after 3 hours because I was quiet tired and... More

This museum as well as others is included in the price of a Zurich Card. The museum covers the history of the land and people that became Switzerland. Some of the 'writeups' are in English - for most you will need to use one of the printed cards for a more detailed description in English. This was a interesting museum... More

Conveniently located next to the main railstation, this museum offers an exhaustive in-depth dive into Switzerland, the Swiss people, Swiss history and Swiss culture. I was surprised and impressed by the unusually frank discussion of some of the warts in Swiss history. Unless you are prepared to spend days here, I recommend a quick top to bottom walk through the... More

We spent a couple of very enjoyable hours finding out a lot that we did not know about Switzerland and how it came to be what it is. Fascinating history lesson in a very well presented setting. The museum is well equipped, although it was sometimes difficult to find the English translations. As we worked our way into the depths... More

Really, say 3 to 4 hours for three-days in a row would have been so perfect! I only had 3 to 4 hours on one-day to visit the Swiss National Museum. Switzerland in as such a rich history. Really since Zurich was one of the crossroads in the Alps the history of Switzerland is the history of the countries of... More

We went here on our last day just to spent some time before leaving Zurich and it was great, we spent there much much more time then we've expected, because it's a great museum!

We had bought the 24 hour pass for Zurich trams and this included many museums for free, at first we thought this was a church till we arrived at the door. Loads to do including taking the test to stay in Switzerland which we failed lol, excellent for families. Lovely variety of displays.

Just across the road from the main railway station, this museum is a worthwhile experience.Such interesting and varied displays. Wander from room to room to see displays not seen in other museums. Wish we had more time here. Ask for a seniors tentrance fee if you qualify and save a few euros.

My 17 year old son and I spent a few hours in this wonderful museum. There were so many and varied exhibits (architecture, military, history, etc.) that we both left wishing we had more time. Many hands on exhibits for kids. Highly recommend.

The current two psecial exhibitions are well worth visiting on 1900-14 and Switzerland as reflected in its cinema. Howver, the cinema exhitibtion is only in Siwss langusages and may not be something for those who do not understand them.
