Renovations took place when we visited so we had o walked past some constructions but totally safe to access the entrance. We are not much of a museum enthusiast but this one stands out with a unique concept focusing on Swiss history, cultures and good display with a fair amount of artifacts. We were a little short of time but... More

It was a interesting visit~~ the building was like an old castle, there were lots of things to see inside. Some of the things like paper cuts is for seasonal events so have check on schedules~~ The reception was really helpful~~ But it was having renovation of some part so it looks like it closed.

We enjoyed this museum, though it got incredibly stuffy and hot as we moved upstairs. Overall, however, we learned a great deal about an expanse of topics.

Like Switzerland, this museum is put together in an efficient manner. You have access to an iPad that guides you through the entire museum, in multiple languages. You could do the museum very well in 2 hours, or comprehensively in 3 hours. It would have been nice to see more on their inventions, economy, the various cantons, etc. They are... More

The fact that in Zürich there is a National Museum does not mean that Switzerland has History. The place was about contemporary art. It is not worth visiting.

Due to a very cold February in Zurich coupled with the intent of enjoying some of the local culture - went into the museum. It's free with a Zurich-card. Lockers are free and very convenient. Interesting museum. We realised that the museum was based on different themes: religion, industry, history etc. However that turned out to be somewhat confusing and... More

Switzerland's history is excellently displayed. It includes the traditional Swiss culture, like banking and winter sports, but also less known events, such as the history of Swiss furniture. And it is in a beautiful abbé. The wood paneled rooms are stunning.

The museum is great, has a variety of exhibitions. The most interesting one for me was the history of Switzerland - has lots of information, everything is in English, German, Italian and French. Do not miss the additional electronic monitors where you can learn even more information, listen to the Swiss national hymn or try for free a naturalization test.... More

The Swiss National Museum has a plethora of different exhibits, most of them unique to Switzerland and fascinating to see. The Living Room exhibit wasn't quite so interesting, but it takes up a lot of room. The *idea* of the exhibit is interesting, but it just loses something in execution. My children loved wandering around and were absolutely fascinated by... More
