Kunstmuseum Winterthur is located about one block from the old town. There are restrooms, lockers (2CHF, returned), and a café for patrons and visitors. I inquired with the reception/cashier about photo taking and was told on the main floor photos are okay, but on the upper floor a maximum of 10 photos are allowed. INSIDER TIP: The museum is open... A collection with several remarkable peaks. The Kunstmuseum certainly has a number of rivals in the city (especially the 'Am Romerhold' museum built around the collection of Oskar Reinhardt) and yet it is certainly worth a visit because of the peaks of the collection: works by Van Gogh, Manet, Renoir, Hans Arp, Brancusi, Giacometti and many other .

When I decided to visit this museum, I thought there was a variety of pieces coming from different centuries, but I found mainly modern and contemporary art. Honestly I don't understand it, so I was disappointed. But if you like that, this is the right place for you.

Quite a nice museum for a small town like Winterthur. I saw the Veuillard exhibition lately and found the museum worthy for a second visit. There are some materpieces and the size of the museum is pleasant, not too big, not too small. A nice cafe is integrated into the museum, even though the quality of food needs some improvement... Before visiting the Winterthur Kunstmuseum, I had purchased a museum pass for 25 CHF that gets you free entrance into the cities best museums, including this one. This is a great deal if your visiting a few museums on the same day as I did. The Winterthur Kunstmuseum consists of two buildings. In the old building you'll find the work... More

You'll discover new artits here and see many familiar names as well. And certainly worth the price of admission. By a day pass and see the Reinhart in town and the Am Römerholz up the hill with the free bus. Even if you are not a real afficianado for 25 francs you can see so much art that surely you'll... I visited the museum on a Wednesday morning. It was almost empty making it most propitious to contemplate the many wonderful paintings - definitely a museum to recommend

The collection though small by other gallery standards, is remarkable. Van Gogh, Monet, Rodin, Picasso - they're all here.
