Quite a nice museum for a small town like Winterthur. I saw the Veuillard exhibition lately and found the museum worthy for a second visit. There are some materpieces and the size of the museum is pleasant, not too big, not too small. A nice cafe is integrated into the museum, even though the quality of food needs some improvement... Before visiting the Winterthur Kunstmuseum, I had purchased a museum pass for 25 CHF that gets you free entrance into the cities best museums, including this one. This is a great deal if your visiting a few museums on the same day as I did. The Winterthur Kunstmuseum consists of two buildings. In the old building you'll find the work... More

You'll discover new artits here and see many familiar names as well. And certainly worth the price of admission. By a day pass and see the Reinhart in town and the Am Römerholz up the hill with the free bus. Even if you are not a real afficianado for 25 francs you can see so much art that surely you'll... I visited the museum on a Wednesday morning. It was almost empty making it most propitious to contemplate the many wonderful paintings - definitely a museum to recommend

The collection though small by other gallery standards, is remarkable. Van Gogh, Monet, Rodin, Picasso - they're all here.

yes, they got some impressive 20th century artists but as overall experience it was a tedious visit. also the building itself is somewhat hard to endure besides the new annexe where you find the more modern pieces. it all depends what you're looking for but for us it was a one go.

We visited three galleries in the one day and feasted on cezannes, monet, maillol, van gogh among many other 20th century artists. The best gallery was the private collection of Oskar Reinhart 'Am Romerholz'. Its situated just outside winterthur but there is a shuttle bus every hour. The gallery is mostly located in a new wing which is interesting but... More

The Kunstmuseum is not terribly large, but the qualify of its impressionist and post-impressionist collection is quite high, with examples of work from several artists that we found quite unexpected. Winterthur is an easy train or S-bahn ride from Zurich, and if you are interested in art of this period the Kunstmuseum is well worth putting on your list!
