The sloapes are incredibly steep - it must be a marathon effort at harvest time. The vines were just in early foliage, so the panorama still looked dry and barren. After "tasting" in several caves, we decided that all the wines were brilliant and bought a couple of bottles from each. More

Take a walk in the vineyards with great views. Very accessible for all ages, I even saw an elder woman with a cane walking in the vineyards. We started in Lutry, just a bit above the trainstation and walked to Cully (ca. 2h). There is also the big tour till St.Saphorin. We stoppend in Grandvaux to have a verre de... More

Memories of this place will probably stay with me for years to come and it is very hard to describe just how beautiful it was to me. Vineyards and tiny Swiss villages (with small castles, old churches, fountains, and ancient roman walls as well) are built on a steep terraced incline down the side of the mountain between Vevey and... Traveling on our own, but arranged through our tour agent, a trip to Grandvaux and visited Domaine Vogel winery for wine tasting. Our hostess Maude Vogel was very knowledgeble of the different wines throughout the area. Magnificent views of the mountains and Lake Geneva. There is a hiking trail through the vineyards which I wish we would have time for. More

We took the train to Chexbres and had a nice salad for lunch at a small cafe above the train station. We then took off for our walk through the vineyards and down to St. Saphorin along the lake. There are nice paved walking paths, but not much signage. We made our way, however, with the help of a map... More

There are some parts of the world which are simply unique (New England in Fall and North Scottish Highlands spring to mind), and the very steep slopes of vineyards of the Lavaux between Lausanne and Vevey fall into this category. I suggest taking time and wandering by foot from village to village, along a network of trails that begin in... More

Not the biggest wine region in the world, but surely one of the most picturesque. You can take the winding paths through the vineyards whilst looking out across Lake Geneva to the alps beyond. You can also visit a number of small wine villages along the way, often barely changed in centuries. More

The vineyards of Lavaux located by beautiful Lake Geneva are one of my most favourite places in the world. Once you are driving through those colourful vineyards in autumn, see the water glistening below, snowy mountains in a distance and the clear blue sky above, stress and hectic are like blown away. Make sure, you go there during the wine... More

Indeed, YES the walk from Chexbres down into Rivas and onward was extraordinary. The Lake Geneva terraced vineyards are 'way more beautiful than the California ones (sorry, folks) and the mountain panorama across deep blue lake Geneva is unparalled; one of the world's top ten views. We walked to the right, on to the little town of Cully; it's easy... More

One of my favorite activities while visiting Montreux is to run around in the vineyards of the Corniche Lavaux, an area in the hills above the lake between Lausanne and Montreux. To get to the area, take the train to Vevey, and connect there for the "wine train" to Chexbres, then just head downhill. Chexbres itslef is a lovely town... More
