It was enjoyable but it's a little pricey. It costs CHF99. Loved the scenery and last but not the least the chocolate tour was awesome. Free samples of variety of chocolates. Eat till your heart content!!

If you're into trains and history, this is one of the reasons to experience the Chocolate/Cheese tour. Riding in Chicago's historic Pullman train cars was a great experience in and of itself. While this isn't the cheapest excursion around, it's a fun day trip, rolling through some very scenic areas of Switzerland. The town of Gruyere was fun to visit... More

We took this train while we stayed in Zurich, this meant a very early start to our day. We started with a 5:20am train at Zurich main station to reach Montreux on time for the 8:57am train, but it was absoutly worth it. The train takes you to cheese factory, then a bus to the castle and village and the... More

This was a full day adventure (9am-6pm) on the "Train du Chocolat" that departs from Montreux Switzerland and travels to the beautiful town of Le Gruyere (home of the famous cheese). You must make a reservation in advance on the trains website as it is very popular and only operates on certain days of the week. If you have a... More

We enjoyed our trip on the 'Train du Chocolat'. Visit to cheese dairy - 'La Maison du Gruyere' and chocolate factory - 'Maison Cailler-Nestle' were excellent. I would recommend everyone to take this train trip....expensive though!!!

We started with a hot chocolate and chocolate croissant on the ride to Gruyeres. If you are lucky, book the Belle Epoque train which has a definite ambiance. First stop is the town of Gruyeres, you will see the cheese factory and get free samples. The castle there is worth visiting. The famous raclette [melted cheese and cold cuts or... More

We unfortunately went on a rainy wet day and it even snowed in Gruyere. The weather conditions made it impossible to see out of the carriage windows due to fogging up and condensation. Yes the carriage is 100 years old but a simple window treatment wouldn't alter the look but would enable full of enjoyment of the beautiful countryside regardless... More

We met our guide Jay at the train station. Then made our way up into the mountains on the quaint old time chocolate train which was very nice. When we reached our destination we walked to the Gruyere cheese factory. from there we took an air conditioned bus from the cheese factory to a village for lunch where we explored... More

The Chocolate Train consists of genuine vintage carriages which are a delight. Beautiful mountain and lake scenery on way to Caillers (Nestles) Chocolate Factory with a stopover at the Gruyere Cheese Factory (free samples) followed by lunch (at own cost) in the medieval village of Gruyere. We purchased lunch at reasonable prices at a lovely quaint very old restaurant adjacent... More
