The pretty ornate timber houses, tumbling river running through the town, all surrounded by snow capped mountains make this a pretty stopover.

Highly recommended for those seeking an easy, child friendly trek of about 1.5 hours with fantastic views. The view of the Gstaad and Saanen area is spellbounding. Starting point: Schonried rail station End point: Gstaad
In Gstaad you have very high prices for not necessarily quality. CHF 44.- for a kilo of apples at Pernet is abusive and the attitude of the employees could be lot more friendly. Restaurant wise, most of the time you eat badly and pay a lot. Especially on the main pedestrian street. If you want to eat well, get out...

Visiting Gstaad at the end of the winter season for a day was a different experience from other times of the year when the season has been in full swing. For the first time, I was able to appreciate the beautiful buildings in peace. It was wonderful to be able to see all the splendid designer shops, admire the railway...

Perfect alpine style vilage, with awesome views, great food, good snow, and nice restaurants. Expensive though! Highly recomended, not very touristic, great slopes, i never had to wait in the lift que!
Gstaad certainly has a lot of local colour and it's usually glittering around famous necks! Gstaad wants to keep its upper-crust image so everything you do is tied into camps (camps cost money, camps ensure uniform behaviour) international or otherwise. Children go into snowboard camps or they take part in group activities which are very well organised (It is Switzerland...

If you are in the market for designer jewelry and ski wear - this is where to melt the platinum card!
I've been a Gstaad devotee since 1958, rarely missing a ski season, and an occasional summer visit. It keeps its quality and ensures excellent skiing coupled with with an ambience quite Swiss yet embracing.
We visited Gstaad in mid October with beautiful fall colors surrounding us. The town has so much atmosphere and we enjoyed just walking all the streets and taking pictures of all the flowers in the window boxes. Truly magical. Go out of your way, if you must, but don't miss visiting Gstaad.
We took the panorama train to Gstaad , The views on the way is as good as in Gstaad itself , Try to reserve the VIP seats in the panorama train (9:45 am out of Montruex ) for the best view . Gstaad is a one street village filled with nice expensive shops and unbelievable views .
