Ok I get that the Freddie statue is cool and situated in a great spot but I don't see that it's an attraction on its own. The Montreux waterfront is the main attraction actually. Views of Lake Geneva are beautiful. Tourists walking along the waterfront intermingle with locals, families of all ages enjoying the sun.

If you stroll along the lake walk, you can not miss this statue. It is indeed a landmark, and you need to know where it is because you will be given directions from it...left or right, etc. I was glad to observe it and was glad many people had left flowers at the base.

All right, the statue is not extraordinary but a great milestone on this long and delightful promenade along the lake, every 10 meters or so studded with a VIP's memorial - plate, sentence, object -, from Russian emigrants to famous writers such as Hemingway, reminding us how tiny and wide our world is. Born Faroukh Bulsara in 1946 on Zanzibar, Mercury-to-be... More

We went to see Freddie memorial at the time when sunset started. It's soo beautiful, lot of people sitting and enjoying the moment as we were. It's better to visit this memorial late afternoon as the back light will not support you for taking good pics ;-)

I was driving the north side of Lake Geneva and had planned to visit Montreux, when I realised that the statue of Freddie Mercury was nearby. I parked at the shopping centre, which is located approx. 5 mins walk from the statue. The view is spectacular, and the whole promenade is worth a wander. The statue faces east, looking over... This is an impressive statue, and its good to get your picture here. If you are a Queen fan, go to the Queen experience - as you are looking at Freddie, go right and turn left up the next street there is a Casino, go into the Casino and the experience is on the left. It is free just walk... More
