This castle is utterly charming and was the highlight of our visit to Montreux. It is easy to reach along the coast road by bus (stop "Chillon") and it is a few steps from the bus stop to the castle entrance. The castle has a lot of steps, some are quite uneven due to the age of the building, so... More

We visited the Chateau for a couple of hours on a Friday afternoon at the end of October. Fortunate to have perfect weather and very few other tourists it was ideal conditions. The price (12.50 CHF per adult) is pretty good for Switzerland, and the castle is fantastic. We were pleased to be given a complimentary paper leaflet with the... More

This castle is a gem located on the shore of Lac Leman, just a 10 minute drive from Montreux. We took a tour with a tour guide who was both well versed in the history and architecture of the castle and enthusiastic in her delivery--very engaging for our 12 and 13 year old kids and us. Chillon has that indescribable... More

nice castle, audio-guide available in italian for just most of the rooms, be careful with the stroller as it must be left in the cloakroom, there's actually no furniture but the atmosphere and the view from the tower is amazing

A must-visit if you enjoy castles. We drove to the castle from Lausanne, and parking was easy and free (surprise surprise!). Do keep at least 3 hours if you want to do justice to the castle. We had downloaded the castle's audio guide app on our phone - much cheaper than taking the audio guide at the castle entrance. However... More

Not worth going if theres no special festival going on. Amazing during winter and when they have a festival (cantonal, swiss independence day, medieval fair, etc). Good value for cost. Well preserved. Good facilities and wide parking. Reachable by public transportation. Kids friendly.

Great fun to access via the CGN boat service from Montreux or elsewhere on Lac Leman, the Chateau de Chillon is a wonderful place in which to spend a couple of hours. With a little imagination it is possible to have a feel for what it might have been like during medieval times and we enjoyed climbing up to take... More

Looks can be deceiving, while it looks small from the outside, it's actually huge inside. After visiting castles in England and Germany, this was our favorite one that we visited. Lots to see inside and takes about an hour to go through (at a minimum). You won't be disappointed.

For me the best symbolic code for Switzerland is the watch (photo 1). They are everywhere, advertized everywhere and represent how precisely and orderly their society operates . Moderation is also a national virtue. No ups, no downs, no extremes and everybody very quite. Some friends living in the Geneva area told me that they are not allowed to flush... More
