This is the reason you go to Montreux, it is absolutely perfect! Tip: get to the castle by boat and you will get a different view from it plus a discount with the ticket. I've been to other castles and this has definitely been my favorite. It looks small from the outside but it really isn't. It has everything you... More

If you like castles you will love the Chateau de Chillon. We went there with a total of seven children, with a wide range of ages (pre-school right up through teens) and all of them thoroughly enjoyed themselves. As did we, the adults!

If you like history, then you'll love this place! Make sure you spend the extra money for the audio tour. We spent an hour there and loved every minute if it. The only negative is the parking. Crazy difficult to find parking. Try to get a spot next to the stone wall. It's free for four hours!

I really wanted to see Montreux and by default Chateau de Chillon. It is a historic place , a 12th century castle and the position of the castle is gorgeous, right by the lake.Worth visiting it.

See the Chillon castle near Montreaux with the old dungeons where Byron carved his name and wrote The Prisoner of Chillon.

If you get a chance to tour this palace, it is quite interesting. A 12th century castle right on the lake built under the direction of Duke Peter of Savoy. Inspired the poem "The Prisoner of Chillon" and you can see the pillar where Francois Bonivard spent 6 years shackled to.

Very good Chateau for the history buff. Many of the exhibits original pieces. Walking the grounds and up to the top a bit much but the views worth it.

Although I like to enjoy the natural beauty of Switzerland , this was a welcome change. We drove to the castle. Parking is ample and not so expensive. The castle is huge and provides good perspective of ancient Switzerland. There is a good cafe to enjoy ice-cream (nestle) The scenery is very beautiful around the castle as well.

My wife and I walked about an hour along the lake promenade to get here from Montreux. We had planned to spend an hour or so looking through the chateau. Wound up spending more than 3 hours wandering through the castle and looking at the various displays. A very enjoyable experience.

Probably the most interesting historical sight in Montreux. It's no more than a 1 1/2 to 2 hour visit filled with a lot of interesting history about the region. For the price and convenience I would definitely recommend.
