We recently visited Chateau de Chillon and found it very worthwhile. We used our Swiss Pass to take the boat over from Montreux and it also covered our entrance fee. The pamphlet is great and we used it to tour the castle. The stations are numbered so it is easy enough to follow from the dungeon, dining area, secret passages,... More

If you find yourself in Montreux this is a must see. There is a bus stop right across the street from the castle, and I strongly recommend taking advantage of the bus system. Most hotels provide a free bus pass that can be used during your stay. Castle is not large, but is well worth the visit.

This is an excellent attraction, positioned at the side of Lake Geneva, it has its own landing stage for the numerous paddle steamers that ply the lake. Parking is at the side of the nearby main road. There is a trolley bus service which stops there that runs between Montreux and Villeneuve. The castle/chateau is steeped in history, all well... More

We visited this not to be missed castle during our stay in Montreux. It is amazing and is a grand one in appearance. My teen daughter thoroughly enjoyed and she felt as if everything was properly kept and all the details about each section of the castle was given.

This castle is definitely not to be missed- full of history and drama. It was well worth the price of admission. There are options of guided tours, personal audiotours or just go-on-your-own. Sometimes we hung out on the edges of the tour groups to catch some interesting tidbits of information. The labels on the displays were very informative. It is... More

We have traveled throughout Europe and seen many castles and this is one of the finest. We live nearby but that is not why. We visit regularly because it is just fantastic. A castle built on the water with awesome views and great history. Did you know the Bernese ruled this region and fought the Savoyard and the lake? Have... More

This chateau (castle!) is a must see if you are in the area. It is not very expensive and you can tour on your own spending as much time in each of the rooms as you like. You can also walk along the lake on the promenade - we brought a lunch and ate at the beach area before going... More

We were staying in Lausanne & decided to visit Montreux to go up to Rochers-de-Naye on the cog railway but the weather was wet & very cloudy. So we decided to walk along the promanade to Chateau de Chillon. We arrived at 11.00am and we were in the chateau for about 3.5 hours. The tour was very intresting & very informative. One of... More

The Chateau dominates the shoreline scenery so be sure to see the interior as well. We were lucky to have a wonderful guide - that makes all the difference in the tour experience.

We were in Lausanne, used Swiss Rail Pass and took train S (S1 or S3 - 25min) to Montreux CGN stop. We then walked the promenade to Château-de-Chillon. If you have the time, you can also use Swiss Rail Pass and take a boat from Le Port d'Ouchy to Montreux CGN (1hr45min). If the long walk is not your thing,... More
