This very old castle sits right on Lake Geneva just outside Montreux. The tours are excellent, and the history is fascinating.

The Chateau is maintained in excellent condition and very well preserved. It is situated in the water, which makes this chateau to be a very special touristic attraction.

We visited Castle Chillon as part of a train travel tour. We only had an hour and a half and it felt rushed, but we did see it all. It was amazing.

The walk along the lake to the Chateau is both relaxing and rewarding - the flora and fauna are incredible

Fascinating visit to a real castle! We took the paddle steamer from Lausanne Ouchy which was a fantastic ride and beautiful views of the wineries and many chateaus. The castle was wonderful ... lots to see and it gave me a real sense of history. Allow at least 2 - 3 hours to explore everything.

The 40 min walk (at a semi-brisk pace) was absolutely gorgeous and stunning with beautiful flowers, sculptures, blue-green waters, and the awesome mountains in the backdrop. I honestly enjoyed the walk to the chateau more than the chateau itself!! You could breeze through and just soak in the view like I did or take a more leisurely 2-3 hour stroll... More

Beautiful castle on Lake Geneva. My one and only castle visit in Switzerland and was highly recommended by Rick Steve. Sure enough, this place is not to be missed. Our entrance fee was half off (6.25ch pp) with the Riviera pass that our hotel gave us. We didn't use the audio guide but followed the Rick Steve chapter as well... More

It's 12.50 Francs to get in, you can get an audio guide for 6.00 Francs, and you get the 201 bus to get there which stops outside. Nearest main train station is Montreux which is a 10 min bus ride away. This castle is very impressive, when you see it from up in the mountains it looks tiny and insignificant,... More

We took our two young sons on a visit to the Chateau. It is easily accessible from Montreaux by bus. The chateau is situated right by the side of the lake. You can take a self guided tour which guides you around some 46 rooms and courtyards. Well worth a visit. The only disappointment was that some of the views... More
