Spent a lovely morning at this fine castle right on Lake Geneva. Lakeside setting definitely added to the appeal. Very impressed by how easy it was to take an informative tour under our own steam. Easy to follow guide and well described points of interest throughout. Came away feeling I'd learned something about Swiss middle-ages history. Would recommend it.

We walked a few miles along the lake trail to this amazing castle. We loved exploring all the different rooms. Word of advice - you must be able to climb steep stairs to be able to explore the entire castle. The entrance fee was included in our Swiss Rail Pass, but would have been worth the fee if it is... The castle is lovely, go see it if you are in the area. You can walk to the castle if you are staying in Montreux, it is an easy 45 minute walk around the lake (just walking around the lake is quite scenic). You can come back by bus or ferry. I highly recommend riding the Swiss ferries, they are... More

Beautifully restored and kept castle, well worth the visit and the compound is quite big to explore the various rooms and architectural features. Nothing like seeing the castle and imagine how life is like in those era.

Enjoyable Switzerland excursion! Beautiful exterior and thoughtful displays inside the castle. Great souvenirs in the gift shop. Make sure you check out the lake side approach for a perfect photo op.

Nice small or medium sized Chateau with maze like passages, rooms and courtyards. Conspicously crafted arrangements for parours, meeting assemblies, and gathering rooms for soldiers and governing administrator. confinements for accused and cellars for storage, Gaurd walkways and watch towers, and also a souvenier shops and excellent icecream coffee and hot chocolate.

Very informative, fascinating 1000 year old castle built on rock in Lake Geneva. Really enjoyed seeing it. Only note of caution: I didn't see any warnings about how physically challenging it was...how dark and uneven the cellar floor rooms were, nor how steep and shallow many of the stairs were going up. It was physically very challenging for the elderly... More

We took the Le Suisse paddle steamer from Lausanne to Chateau de Chillon on Lake Geneva which was about a 2 hour trip by boat. CGN was offering 2 for 1 tickets on the 9:15 boat. There are different ticket prices on the boat for 1st class ( top deck) and 2nd class (main deck). It is a nice thing... More

We paid for the radio headsets and did all 34 (or was it 33) stops on the tour. Fascinating and an excellent way to spend a dreary Monday afternoon. I would allow a good couple of hours for the tour and do, if you are physically able, go right to the very top. The views of Montreaux from the top... More
