I really enjoyed our trip to Montreux and the Chateau de Chillon. The pictures don't do it justice. We visited on a snowy/rainy cold day and still had a great time. The Chateau has been extensively restored and there is a lot of historical information conveyed as you make your way through the self guided tour. The views are stunning... More

A must-see if in Montreux. Several stairs to climb in the castle, but great views. A location for great photos as well.

The fact that the castle dates back to the bronze age is impressive. The way the castle visit is laid out along with the numbers and the audio guide is excellent - it takes you across different areas of the castle. Every spot helps you visualise the purpose for which these things were present in the castle. Check out the... More

Nice place for a day trip. Old castles with interesting museum displays which are worthwhile viewing. We didn't pay for the audio as found the information on the provided free leaflet was enough for us.

The character of the place and much of what was original has been plastered over but it was still well worth spending a couple of hours exploring. The price wasn't too bad and they had clean toilets inside. Kids loved exploring all the rooms

great place to learn about european history. fascinating engineering and building. this place is huge. sometimes they have an exhibition which are generally really interesting. costs a little money, but definitely worth a visit. maybe takes a good 1.5 hours to walk thru it all and ready all the stuff. nice views on the Lac Leman and to france.

If you are looking for opulence and grandeur architecture in this castle, this is not the place to go to. Nonetheless, the history behind this simple yet prominent castle are very interesting. This is a small castle but has numerous rooms to go to. Make sure to get the pamphlet at the entrance of the castle as it guides visitors... More

I'm not much of a castle person but the views surrounding the castle are magnificent. The castle is easily accessible via public transport - bus 201. You should not miss this attraction when visiting Montreux. Free entry if you are holding a Swiss Travel Pass.

We took the bus from downtown Montreux and it was easy. Our Swiss Travel Passes got us free admission to the castle. The dungeon was the most interesting part. I also liked the coats of arms and other regalia on the walls of one of the upstairs rooms.

The castle is not very big in itself, but it is easily reachable from Montreaux. There are some nice views of the lake from inside the castle, and it has a medieval feeling to it, but i wouldn't consider it a can't-miss in the area unless you have a lot of spare time.
